Welcome Janet! I looked at your profile and I've seen that you read christian fiction or books about spirituality. We have also a discussion for philosophy and religion: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Do give a look if you have some free time. I feel so lonely there. This year I'm reading several books about religion but the discussion isn't very active.

Welcome Janet. Lovely to meet you.

Angela, what a surprise to find you here! I just finished the weekend read-a-thon, which was a fun activity in this sweltering heat.
Welcome Janet, I hope you find our group friendly and entertaining (we certainly think it is!)

Hi, welcome to the group. Lovely to meet you.
A belated welcome to Bookish, Janet, Janet, and everyone I missed during my Goodreads hiatus!
And a very belated welcome to you too Tamara - so good to see you here! I am eager to head down to the poetry section and see what everyone is posting! I used to be very active in that section and hope to be again.

I love Ishiguro!, especially The Remains of the Day, Never Let Me Go, and The Buried Giant. I also read and liked Nocturnes: Five Stories of Music and Nightfall, though not quite as much as the other three.
I find Victoria Schwab very enjoyable as well. I've read more than one of her books.
The others you mention I've heard of but haven't actually read yet.
Another writer I'm fond of in the fantasy area is Neil Gaiman - I prefer the more fanciful stuff like Stardust, The Graveyard Book, and The Ocean at the End of the Lane to the more hard boiled American Gods, but I haven't disliked anything I've read by him.

Never Let Me Go. I'm waiting for the right moment to start The Buried Giant

I am also new to the group and just wanted to say hello and welcome!
What kind of books do you normally read?

I used to read a lot of Mary Higgins Clark, Torey Hayden, Kristen Hannah and Sue Grafton. Don't care for romance. Now as I have been in some other groups online and in person I read almost anything. I even enjoy YA as I got hooked trying to get my boys to read. I even read my first Stephen King book11/22/63

I wasn't really into romance either before I discovered historical romance, that is really my guilty pleasure now. I also enjoy Stephen King, especially Carrie and The Green Mile. YA books are a good read because the stories are usually really good and they are usually not that long or hard, so they are easy to go through and a good way to just turn off and relax.

My reading interests including fiction, historical fiction, non fiction and some memoir. I do not enjoy paranormal, sci fi, dystopia, or scary thrillers.
In the summer, I pick up my pace with reading due to the extreme heat here in FL. In addition to reading, I enjoy swimming in the summer and riding my bicycle in the winter. I am a member of the local Audubon Society and do a lot of volunteer work through my church.
I look forward to being involved with this group and broadening my reading horizons.
