Welcome / Member Introductions

I live in the uk and teach full time so dip in and out of the group a lot. Do check out the just for fun pages.

I love reading (fiction mostly, but across a wide range of genres. I do, however, generally struggle with social media – not a problem with understanding it, but rather one of not seeing the point:-)
I'm hoping to find a happy balance based on common interests here!

I am Ayse, I enjoy reading and know some of your members from my other groups. Right now I am about to give another shot at becoming a working mom. I am looking forward to share reading with you

starting over,

I am Marta and this my first time posting anything on GoodReads! It is just a little bit daunting. Everyone seemed so nice and relaxed in here that I decided to finally give it a try.
I noticed that you read a very eclectic mix of books/genres so I am excited to join and spice up my reading!

Welcome Marta - Hghm!
Nice to have you with us. Tell us a bit more about yourself: where are you from, what type of books you'd like to discuss or read here with us, and so on!!!

I am from Portugal and just graduated medical school. I don't have a favourite genre (too hard to pick!)! I feel like I have not read many classics nor non- fiction so I am looking forward to read along with you, it will give me motivation for sure! In fact, I have started Frankenstein even though the challenge is almost over so I would say I am already making some progress!
Welcome Marta and congratulations on graduating. Do you have a first job lined up?

I do not have a job prospect just yet. I will have to sort out some paperwork plus do an exam for medical speciality first and decided which hospital to gom etc. I still don't know how all of it works but I am going to gather information this month. Hopefully I will have a clearer picture soon.
I don't know how the Portuguese system works but I'm a doctor in England. Just started working as a haematologist

Haematology! How nice!
I still don't know which one I want.
We chose our speciality a few years down the line. I've been qualified 5 years now and only just starting in my speciality. Out university doesn't really matter, it's our post uni experience that counts.

My name is Katia, I'm 21 from France and I love reading since I was very little ! I play basketball profesionnally and study at the same time so founding time to read is hard, but manageable! I like all kind of books and I'm not afraid to try new kinds. As of right now, I am reading the deadly secret by Wilkie Collins and Gone with the wind by Margaret Mitchell (I've already read it in french, this time I'm reading the original version!). I hope meet some people that share the same passion with me here :)

Welcome Katia. What a life yours must be: studying and playing professional basketball sounds hard indeed, at least for my lazy standard!!!
I'm really glad you love Wilkie Collins: he's one of may favourite author! At the moment we're reading, as classic, a book of his friend Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities

Welcome Amber, the A Tale of Two Cities discussion has been lively and informative- I haven't posted much but I have enjoyed reading the comments.

Welcome Amber. I'm starting a tale of two cities in September so you should definitely join our readalong thread!

I love to read classics, literary fiction, engaging non-fiction such as essays, cultural studies, biographies, philosophy, and history. I also love contemporary stuff such as cozy mysteries and general fiction.
Thanks.

Nichole, your range of reading looks like a great fit for our group! I personally don't read much nonfiction but we have a fairly active section for that. I love mysteries, classics & science fiction/fantasy best but have been reading more literary fiction the last few years in an attempt to broaden my horizons :/
Welcome Nicole! Love the breadth of your reading interests - I enjoy most all of those categories as well!

Its my first time being part of a forum as such, so hi again.
My love for books emerged late for what i believe but its not dying soon for sure, like even if thats possible.
I mostly prefer non-fiction but lately i feel like i should try classics be it fiction or otherwise. So guide me with your suggestions. I thought of starting with 'War and peace' and 'Odyssey' but if you would prefer something else, would gladly appreciate.
Thanks
