Welcome, Lisa. I am glad you decided you DO want to join. Yeah, I told you about this group b/c it is my favorite here at GR, but I didn't push you. ;0) I did let you decide, right? Anyhow you guys, welcome Lisa b/c she has a lot to contribute in terms of her knowledge of books. Her interest in books is indeed wider than mine. She reads even science fiction and speculative fiction and kids books and ..... but she likes the kinds of books I like too. She is a dear GR friend.
Chrissie, Thank you. Yes, you definitely let me decide. I'm glad you let me know about this group and occasionally reminded me of it. I'm excited to take a look around when I have the time.
Welcome Lisa! In the group there are many discussions, but feel free to choose only the ones that please you the more. I think it's pretty impossibile to follow all the discussions in a group above all if we are active in more than one group.
Thanks very much, dely. Yes, I agree. I came to that conclusion that I'm to follow and participate in the discussion that interest me the most. I think I'll love the options and become less overwhelmed by all that is here once I start posting.

NONE of us are active in all the threads. Threads covering those books we are currently reading in fiction and non-fiction are active. For those of us who review there is a thread for that. Nothing is obligatory, except showing respect for other people's pov.
Welcome, Lisa! I agree with Chrissie, there is no obligation to comment on each and every thread, just browse the discussions and take part in those you find interesting. What I can tell you is that this is one of the few groups in which I don't feel overwhelmed despite its being quite big. Very interesting discussions and great people in here, in my opinion.
I hope you'll feel yourself at home, I will certainly be delighted to your contribution, since Chrissie says you know so much about books!
Welcome Lisa! I will just endorse what dely and others have said. Even if you just post in one thread you will find a home here :)
Welcome, Lisa. A tip I found useful: on the page for the group which lists all the discussions, at the top at the right hand side it says 'unread' If you click on that it will bring up all the threads where you haven't looked at the discussions yet. Down at the bottom of that page it will say 'mark as read' If you click on that it makes it as if you've read them all. From that stage on you will only have indicated for you the new bits you haven't read. I'm not sure I've explained that very well!
Thanks, Gill. That was the first thing I did, and I'm continuing to do it until I figure out which discussions I want to actually read. I do this for all my groups. It's the first thing I do when I go to each of my groups. Good tip!
Hi everyone - I joined this group after Gill recommended it to me, so just popping in to introduce myself!I am Viv, from England. I am a life long book lover, though I have gone through phases of reading more or less literary stuff. I like sci-fi and fantasy and historical fiction, but am also trying to increase the number of classics I read. I'm particularly interested in reading more diversely, with more works in translation. This group seems to have a great mix of people from around the world so I'm looking forward to expanding my reading horizons with you all :-)
Hi, Viv. Yep, there are many of us from different countries. i was born in the US, but moved to Sweden and now live in France and Sweden. Lived many years in Belgium, too. It is fun with people from different countries. Welcome.
Welcome Lisa! So glad you have finally decided to join!!!
And of course welcome Viv to you as well!

Thank you, Laura T. Me too.
Welcome, Daisy. There are lots of interesting things happening in this group. I'm sure you'll find somewhere you fancy joining in.
Welcome Daisy!
Classic and thrilles are my passion as well! We'll meet in a lot of discussion then!

Welcome, Daisy. I like classics, but no so much thrillers. I think biographies are my favorite, if I have to pick one. There are readers of all different inclinations here.
Hi I'm Alexis!!I love urban fantasy and my favorite series is the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews and the Young Elites series by Marie Lu. I dare you to read them and to not like them, its basically impossible. I also have started a blog about, yes you guesses it, books. If you wanna check it out that would be awesome!

And yeah thats it, thats me!
Welcome Alexis. While I appreciate your bookish enthusiasm, you should be aware that we have a very strict policy against self-promotion (including blogs). Hope that doesn't discourage you from participating in the group.

After reading one Richard III --and Shakespeare, a classic -related book, now I keep on reading about Richard . I was interested in Shakespeare and now the Richard topic captured my soul and imagination. Now I'm reading Annette Carson about him,and this is history. I'm not interested in only one or two genres after all.
Welcome Alexis! Leslie has already told the "bad" news, so I'm here just to tell you We're happy to ahve you around
Hi,My name is Jean and I just found this group on a GR friend's profile. Wow, this group really has some wonderful books on the shelf. I'm looking forward to jumping right in and enjoying this group.

Hi,Tytti
I found it very interesting that you want to focus on Hungarian literature.I know nothing about it myself, but the author of this book is Hungarian. She invited me to Goodreads, because we are both Ricardians. Her book is full of references to Hungarian history and literature, you must read it,I think.

If you browse old posts, you'll see I've posted several of De Andrè's songs as poems. I've grown up listening to his songs, suckling his music together with milk!

wow! I'll check it out later ;) you're a fan, so you know Se ti tagliassero a pezzetti (my fav song)...the live version has one verse changed: instead of "Signora Libertà, Signorina Fantasia", he says "Signora Libertà, Signorina Anarchia". I really love the song and I really love that verse. therefore, my half nick ;)

Hi! I joined this group a few months ago, but honestly I never used this account. I feel dumb because I still have to understand how to use GoodReads, ahaha. By the way, I'm from Italy, too!

I find navigating around Goodreads difficult, and I've been here a number of years.
Welcome Giulia! Feel free to browse the group discussions and ask questions if you want help navigating.

I'm in my 60s and I'm a lifelong reader. I have really eclectic reading taste. You can check my shelves and see that. About the only genres I don't really read are horror, romance, and religion. I've been a Goodreads member since May 2007 and I'm in a real world book club that I formed over a decade ago.
Some of my favorite genres are science, biography, history, historical fiction, speculative fiction, mysteries, literary fiction, young adult, middle grade children's, humor, essays of various types, vegan theory and vegan cookbooks, but really just about everything. It depends on the book.
I have a feeling my already bloated to read list will get much longer because of books I'll find in this group.
ETA: I live in San Francisco, California, U.S.
I enjoy books with San Francisco settings and books with orphans.
