Welcome / Member Introductions
Hi everyone. My name is Gloria and I am in my senior year of high school. I have spent my past three years in Beijing, China with my family. Regretfully, I have not spent as much time as I would have liked reading great books, but I am making that up as quickly as I can! In addition to great literature, art, and music, I also love science, engineering, and learning in general.

Things have gotten mildly crazier around here - Kait's an active toddler, my husband left the military and got a new job ..."Military wife, toddler, new job, new house and you still find time to read? Girl, you are my hero! You are doing something right! :-)
Mimi, I agree! I have a dog, husband, no kids, same house & same job for 15 years and I'm challenged by lack of reading time! Need to make changes....
Hello guys, Im Austine from India. New to reading actually, heard of this site and wanted good book recommendations.

Welcome Austine! If you participate in the threads, I'm sure you'll get plenty of those! :)

Thanks for the welcome! This group is so much fun. Now I always have the feeling that I ought to never feel bored because I've added nearly a thousand books on my to-read list since I joined goodreads. My year's been spent mostly applying to US colleges, keeping up grades, and becoming a Tolkiendil. A great play I've read recently is "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" by Tom Stoppard.
Welcom Austine!@Gloria, I am guessing that a Tolkiendil is a fan of Tolkien. If so, I am also one! I also am a fan of Tom Stoppard -- he was one of the first of our Group Drama playwrights so if you want to hear about some of his other plays, check out the thread below:

Feel free to come on over to our Drama section, we're currently reading Irish playwrights.
Hi allI love reading good writing of all sorts. I am in Canada. I have a teenage son who started reading almost out of the womb
Welcome DJ and Natalie!DJ, my mom went through hip replacement so I can sympathize with you! You will have plenty of reading time during recovery as well. Do you listen to audiobooks? They might come in handy while you are doing PT after the surgery... In any case, it sounds like you read mostly nonfiction, so make sure you take a look at our nonfiction folder:

Hi, I'm Karin, as you can see. I'm a Shelfari refugee and have followed some of my favourite groups here. However, I'm also looking forward to finding a few new ones. I've already put A Prayer for Owen Meany on hold because I've been meaning to read it anyway (pun unintentional).I'm a somewhat eclectic reader, but don't read all kinds of books. Also, after age 40 I started "cheating" and usually read the ending before I'm done to see if I want to finish the book. So many books, so little time. I would have been well and truly horrified to do that when I was growing up or in my twenties.

Welcome Angela. We have a strict no-promotional posting rule here so I have deleted your post but please feel free to write a new one that follows our rules.
Hello! I am obviously a total book worm (probably the same as all of you are too :)). I really would love to expand my list of books and possibly share my favorites with others like me. Thank you and I'm so glad to be part of the group :p

Hi everybody,I have a broad range of interest in several genres, but my resolution this year is to read more literary works and thought this group might help me in that quest.
Thank you for having me!
Welcome Sandra! Many of our members enjoy literary works - hope you find a lot of group reads and readalongs to take part in!
