Welcome Afrodite, I read a wide variety, including a few books like Harry Potter and Mortal Instruments. Hmmm. I think others read of that sort though; so I'm not sure I'm the best to recommend. Maybe the series beginning with Foundling? I really enjoyed those in a Harry Potter underdog sort of way.

Hi, I'm a new member. That sounds weird, doesn't it? Anyway, looking forward to reading the group discussions.
Hi, I'm new to this group. I love books and this year I did 2 A-Z challenges which I have completed. I like classics, chick-lit, poetry, sci-fi, and am now getting into YA.
Hi, I'm Jill from Connecticut. I love to read but with a busy career I haven't read as much as I would like. As I near retirement, I want to connect with other readers and discover new authors.
Welcome, Linda and Jill. There's plenty going on in this group, so have a good look round, join in where you fancy, and feel free to ask any questions about what's going on.

Welcome to the group, Linda! And thank you for the friendship request.

Hi!I joined this group because a couple of my GR friends are members and reading some posts here it seems that people actually discuss books. My other groups seems to revolve around monologues where everyone is very interested in what they post but not what anyone else is saying. So I'm looking forward to discussing books with you all :))
We hope to discuss books Murkypoke!!!
Even if, I have to admit, being a chatterbox myself, we now and then tend to speack about ourselves as well!!!
Join in in any discussion you like, and ... WELCOME!

Welcome Murkypoke! As Laura says, we hope to discuss books but do talk about a lot else too. But we almost always come back to books no matter the topic :)
Hi, I'm chouaib, hummm... Maybe you will find it a little weird but I'm new in reading, until now I have read just one book L'homme qui voulait être heureux last year, so I have decided to read at least two books per month, I'm really glad to be here on "Goodreads" since it motivate me more :)

Welcome Chouaib. Two books a month is quite a high mark! But you can make it, I'm sure!
Which type of books do you think could be of interest for you?

Thanks Laura, since I'm new in reading so I tried to choose books with 200 pages on average, I just need some months to have the habit and I can after go for more long ones.
Now I like science, psychology and historial genres, it's always good to start with what we like and sure that after I will read more different genres.
Hey! I am Kelly! I have been in this group for a few years but have not been active for awhile because my dad got multiple myeloma, a blood cancer and working retail has kept me busy from my favorite hobby. so I want to join in again and be part of a group and read good books! I need an escape! I need to read amazing things and be inspired! so I am back! A bit rusty but completely enthusiastic!
Welcome back Kelly! Sorry to hear about your dad. Good books can be a great escape and you should be able to find some here...
Welcome back Kelly. Sorry about your father, but I don understand: Goodreads helped me a lot when my mom was ill and I had to stay home with her.

Hi guys! My name is Cecilia but most people call me Ceci. Right now, I am reading Hotel Honolulu. Ummm I dunno what else to say so ya. I'm excited for this group!
Hi everyone,I've posted comments here a few times but wanted to say "hello" officially.
My name is Jane and I'm a big fan of classic literature but I'm currently branching out and reading Clockwork Lives which is good so far!
I'm keen to make new friends here and exchange recommendations and opinions on books :-)
Hello! I was checking Facebook and a friend posted a quote by Doris Lessing: "Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible." I went to Goodreads to find more Doris Lessing quotes, and remembered once again that I've never read The Golden Notebook. After marking that as to-read, I scrolled down to the discussion section and discovered your group. I am between book groups at the moment as the last one was so popular that it got a little too large for me. I'm looking forward to participating in discussions here.
Welcome Carolyn! And a happy New Year to you and any other new members (and of course to the members already here too)!
Do joyin our discussion! Pity we read The Golden Notebook last year - I didn't like it that much!!! - but we have plenty of books in duscussion right now.
And of course WELCOME to you and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of us!!!
And of course WELCOME to you and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of us!!!
Welcome to all our recent new members, including Murkypoke, Chouaib, Owain, Kelly, Ceci, Jane and Carolyn! Hope you enjoy the discussions here.@ Carolyn, as well as reading The Golden Notebook, some of us read The Grass is Singing, which is also by Doris Lessing, which was very interesting and provoked lots of discussion. The discussion thread for that can be found in our readalong section.
