Do you? I don't really care for the sea here, although it is beautiful just a little North from here, like in Senigallia and such.

Thank you for all the welcomes!Leslie wrote: "Welcome Tracy! Oregon is a big change from Louisiana (although both have coasts); is coastal Oregon rainy the way coastal Washington state is?"
Yes, it is very different. I love it here though. Yes, it can be very rainy here, mostly in the winter months though. Im actually looking forward to it.

Nice :-) It's near where I live. I like the Conero for the walks but not for the coast, actually, I prefer sandy beaches.
Me too generally - being my mother Sardinian! But I lije the water to be transparent, and there is good, better than in the rest of the coast

Hi, I'm a newbie here. I'm Darnia and I'm Indonesian. I joined GR since 2010 and read so many genres. Since English is not my native, I'm so sorry for my poor grammar. The description of this group exactly like what I'm looking for so far. I hope I could join for discussion in the future and get so many recommendation of good books here :)Thank you
Hi Darnia!
Welcome here, and don't worry for your English: a lot of us - I for one! - are not English mothertongue. So mistakes are allowed with us!!!!
I also hope you'll soon find discussions you can join: we read every months several books together, fiction, non fiction, poetry, drama ...
See you around then

The fact that the group is planning on reading Margaret Atwood this month excited me, especially since the Handmaid's Tale has been sitting in my to be read pile for quite some time.I am currently going to school studying English Literature and I have written several novels though I have yet to seek publication on any of them.
Welcome Carissa. You'll find out discussion of The Handmaids Tale has already got going so please don't hesitate to post your opinions when you start the book

Hi everyone. My name is Ruth and I live in Rhode Island and I am a avid reader. I read The Handmaid's Tale a few months ago. I am looking forward to the discussion.
Hello everyone! My name is Dave and I am a habitual reader. I used to be a high school English teacher who taught lit courses, but don't hold that against me. I have read a bit of everything and currently am into contemporary, foreign and some historical fiction. Mostly contemporary stuff that would be considered literature. I live in Charlotte, NC. I am currently rereading As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner. Not sure what that says about me. Discuss amoungst yourselves.
Welcome Ruth and Dave! Dave, I reread As I Lay Dying a few years ago. Faulkner is one of my favorite authors :)

Hello everyone!I'm Sam, I live in Germany and I love books, cats, baking, riding my bike, and traveling. (I'll visit Rome in September, yay!) My fiancé and I are currently preparing to move to Cologne this October.
Bookwise, I mostly read classics mixed with fantasy, but I like trying things out. Since realizing my female writers quote is shockingly low, I try to read more women's fiction (but I must say I despise chick lit, usually). In a next step I will try to discover contemporary German writers, which are underrepresented in my reading as well. Which is kind of funny for a German lit graduate. But hey, my expertise is the Enlightenment era, so that's that.
Glad to be here, guys.
Welcome Sam! I can't give you much help with contemporary German writers but there are plenty of female authors who don't write chick lit! Hopefully you will find some that appeal to you here :)
Hello everyone. My name is Ben and I live in central Kansas. I'm a college student in an apartment with my cat!
Until early June of this year I was definitely not a reader. I honestly couldn't remember the last time I had read a book! I thought that was ridiculous so I decided to try and read as much as possible over the course of this year. Once I started I couldn't stop!
