Hi all! I'm Amy, I'm a full time student and I'm currently working on clearing the unread section of my bookcase over the summer. :)

Great effort Amy. But this is not the right place for that: for each book I manage to read, I find at least 4 new titles in the discussions hereabout!

Hello all! I'm Leighanne, live in NH US. I have one husband, two kids, two jobs, am a girl scout leader, coach, and "book"worm. I'd guess about 95% of what I read is ebooks. I use my apps on my phone and computer that way I don't need to worry about ruining real books. It's also easier to pick up where I left off in my opinion. I never really read as a kid didn't start reading until I was working in a library and picked up Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I'd never heard of the books then as I finished it found out the movie was coming out about a month later. My average is about 30 books a year when I have time. Last year I hit 48 books (my goal was 40 I think) so this year my goal is 50. I am definitely a "series" reader. If I know a book is not a series I'm less likely to read it. I joined the group to try and expand my genres. I think I already have a decently eclectic taste, but there's always room for improvement. My only downfall is books over 500-1000 pages scare me, I think that is how I read so many books in a year.
Welcome Black, Amy and Leighanne
Welcome Kaushani, Hayes, Amy, Leighanne & Black!Black, I was born in Hong Kong and read martial arts novels by Jin Yong (Louis Cha) in my childhood!
Hi, My name is Cori. I'm brand new to all this. Don't have any friends on my list, never written a review, all that fun stuff. I'm always looking for the next good book to read though. I've never been part of a book club or anything, but I think I'd love discussions about what I'm reading. It's always fun to share the experience.
Hi everyone! My name is Susie and I live in Colorado. I belong to several, more specific topic groups (historical, classics, cozies) and was looking for a group that has poetry(very recent, increased curiosity) and liked the the other stuff here too!Welcome Cori...the groups are great and I find it is helpful to know others are tackling some challenging books at the same time. I've read a couple this year I would never imagined reading before! And don't worry...you'll find plenty of the 'next great book' to read...
Welcome Cori! No problem if you're new! It'll take just a moment to jump right in the centre of things!
Hi to all fellow readers :) I am a newbie on Goodreads but I love the site, since there is so much to do. My name is Tammy and I am a soon to be 45 year old female living in Los Angeles. I have loved to read since I was a child and it carried over into my mid-life years. I prefer paranormal, pagan and gothic books but will read any and all genres if it captures my attention.
Hello Everyone.. :) I am new here. I love to write poetry. I also write other genres. Feel free to check out my page! :-D Thanks!
Welcome Cori, Susie, Tammy, and Elizabeth!
Susie and Elizabeth, so glad to have more poetry lovers join the group!! Susie, I was originally drawn to this group by the poetry section too!
Elizabeth, a hearty welcome, but we do have a strict non-promotion policy for authors in this group. There are a lot of other good groups out there for you to promote your work but not this one. Of course we are very happy to chat with you about your reading and anything else you want to chat about! :)

I don't think I said hello, but HI. I'm Heather :-)I love to read, obviously, and my goal for the year is 55 books. I'm currently reading my 28th though, so I may need to increase my challenge a little for this year.
When I'm not reading, I am usually spending time with, or cleaning up after, our 6 dogs and 3 cats. Or gardening. Or taking photographs. Or annoying my husband with projects I found on pinterest.
That's my life!

Hi Heather, just signed up with goodreads. My name is Michael and I want to start reading some good books.
Welcome Heather and Michael!
Heather, that's a lot of animals! I have two rescue cats, but my apartment wouldn't be big enough for that many dogs! :)

You'll find a lot of French literature mentioned in our translated works theme thread (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...). We also have an ongoing Émile Zola readalong - several members are working their whole way though one of his cycles. I think the most recent Zola was Germinal in May (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...), but I'm sure there are more coming up!
