Welcome Brianna! For all you new people (or lurkers), please join in any of the discussions. We are a chatty group so don't feel you have to read every single post, unless of course you want to!

LauraT, I love dystopian, reality and any book that is popular."
I've just finished Divergent, but I have to admit I didn't like it that much. Have you read it? What do you think?

Hi Grace, welcome to the group
Hello fellow savants, docents, evocators and elocutionists! My name i s Manny and reach out to you from the sunny shores of Florida. I look forward to sharing with my fellow "apasionados" of the written word....and as it appears that I am already behind on the listed readings, I am off to the library!
Leslie wrote: "Welcome Suzanne, Erica, Gracie and Manny!"Thank you Leslie for the warm welcome. I will try to learn the ropes quickly and get on with the reading. I will start with the upcoming Uncle Vanya by Chekov but am not sure if I am too late for Dorian Grey, secret History and the Iron Curtain(a long read indeed). Will I be allowed to make the occasional recommendation on future reads or are the year's list already set in stone?
Welcome Manny, Suzanne, Erica, and Gracie.Manny, the moderators let us know when it's time to choose monthly group reads. Members get to nominate books, and if they get seconded the books get listed in the polls where members vote for a winner. It's a true democracy! So no worries, everyone has a vote. And even the book you wanted didn't win, you could still organize a readalong with other interested members! (sorry for cutting in Leslie!)
Hello Manny and welcome to the group!
Charbel has said it all really. We are very relaxed about our group reads and have a nomination process. You are never too late for our reads as we keep the threads open for a good while after the month has ended so you can still comment. Any other questions please ask (we even have an Ask the Moderators thread if you can't find anywhere else to post your question)

Hello, all. I've been using GR for a few years now, but I've largely refrained form participating in groups and discussions, as I am prone to having dry spells from reading due to being distracted by other shiny things. I have bookcases full of books I've yet to read, and I still buy more. I really need someone to keep me away from used bookstores. Also, because of this, I don't want to join any challenges with books I don't already own.If there are any casual book discussions here, I'd like to jump in. It would be nice to finally start talking with others about books instead of just reviewing them!
Angela M wrote: "Welcome to another Angela ! I go by Angela M here and I think you'll enjoy this group."Hello, other Angela! I've seen more Angelas on here than any other site I've frequented. Then again, I don't use my real name on other sites, but it felt all right here. :)
Leslie wrote: "Welcome Angela! Feel free to join in any of the discussions - I am sure you will find us casual!"
Thank you! I've already been browsing a bit, and there are some interesting topics. Being able to talk about books for fun - outside of a classroom setting - is a good feeling, haha.
Hello! I'm Benjamin. I'm new to Goodreads but old to books. All I ever do is read, primarily the classics as of late. So far, my favourites are by Dickens and Hugo, and War and Peace is next.
Welcome to the group, Angela and Benjamin.
Hi I am Nichole. I live in Washington State with my husband and 3 kids. I love reading all types of books but classics are my favorite. Right now I am currently tackling War and Peace. I am happy to join the group and it is nice to meet all of you.
Welcome Nichole! I read War and Peace last year -- despite its length, I found it surprisingly readable.
Hi Nicole and Benjamin. Nicole....I bought War and Peace this past year but I still have to read it yet. I want to so hopefully sometime this year I can read it. I too love Classics and I am buying them all.
LauraT wrote: "Welcome Nichole!War and Peace is one of my favourite book. Now I'm reading Anna Karenina"
I have been wanting to read Anna Karenina for a long time. I think I will do that next.
Laura TI have the book of Anna and I have started this one long time ago and I need to finish reading it.
It took me ages before starting reading it: even if I like Tolsoi's style a lot, I knew beforehand that I wouldn't have liked the heroine. And I haven't!!!!
But the book is really worth reading
