Yes, I am one of those people who 'haunts' Amazon constantly clicking on the request to have titles available in the Kindle format! LOL.
Luckily more and more titles are being released as e-Books on the same day as the hardbound.
Me too! And I was so pleased that Harper Lee has done a turnaround :) My favourite format is Large Print, by the way, but I love readers for their versatility. The "Harry Potter" books got fatter and fatter and nearly broke my wrist in the end! LOL
Gigi, welcome again!! Like Jean has already said, there's a few members here with eye problems, which really raised my awareness for it, to the point that I now (following Jeans example) find myself clicking the request button on amazon quite frequently as well. I really wonder how many people have to click it though before amazon considers it economically sound to produce an e-copy?

Might be nice to know.
Gill wrote: "Welcome Gigi. I also have eye problems and hence think e-books are just great!"Hi Gill.
I swear my Kindle is the most valuable 'toy' I own! I got my first one when they first came out- I saw it on Oprah and ordered it through the Oprah website. At the time my eyes were fine but I was travelling a great deal for my business and carrying all those heavy books with me was tiresome. Little did I know that one day it would be the only way that I would be able to read. Just one year later and I was in a car accident which completely changed my life. I was SO grateful to have my Kindle to keep me company as I convalesced.

Those large print books can be expensive and heavy!!
Yes, I am pleased that Harper Lee's books will soon be available on Kindle. A lot of the older writers hate e-Books. They see their old loyal bookstore owners being pushed out of business and want to hold out. I understand that but we are way past being able to turn the tide. e-books are no longer 'the future', but very much a part of the present.
Wellcome Gigi. I'm sure in here you'll find pkenty of ideas for your further reading. Since we've started this adventurs I've sort of lessen terribky my number of classics and victorian novels and discovered several new worlds! And I hope we may be of help with sight problems...
I read a mix- everything from classics to modern, to international. I think that expands your knowledge of people to read from many different genres. So pleased to hear that you have expanded your reading choices. Thank you for your concerns about my vision. The Kindle solves my problem so I am doing just fine.
I do agree! The only problem eith this group is that you feel so well in here that you spend more time on the net and less on books!:-)
Welcome Gigi! Laura is right, this group is so interesting and inspiring that I want to read all the books mentioned here!
That's absolutely right........ I came into this group and no one knows anything about me. So here I go....I live in Calcutta,India and I am a huge lover of books. I mostly like fiction and mysteries. I recently started loving philosophy. My favorite book of all times is the The Main Street Series by Ann M Martin. People say it is a book for by twelve-years old kids but I feel that the book tells much more than a simple story. Reading books is all that I love doing all day...... and that was enough to shove myself into this group.
The End :)
LauraT wrote: "I do agree! The only problem eith this group is that you feel so well in here that you spend more time on the net and less on books!:-)"That's so true, Laura! I often have to tear myself away from my laptop (catching up with GR news and discussions) to go back to my reading :-)
Hello. I would like to start by introducing myself and sharing with you all a little bit about what I like to do. My name is Jöel Gerber. I'm 34 years old and live in Charleston, WV. I grew up in the small town of Hurricane in West Virginia. I'm a Hurricane Redskin through and through. When I go to say about what I do...Fact is, I am a poet. I have written poetry since I was five years old. Since then, just like wine, I got better with time. Recently, back in March on the 18th I finally got the nerve and right direction to self-publish through Createspace my very first poetry anthology entitled "Poetry From The Beat Of A Heart". Since then, I have been trying to get connected with those who have and share the same interest as I do. I so far have gotten like 3 reviews on amazon and 2 here and I am hoping to get more. Well, I will let you all go for now; but, before I do let me share something else with you. As far as what I write about: I write about anything that inspires me and most things I write about are able to be related to in some way. I write about my thoughts and feelings on things that affect a person in their every day life.
Hi Joel! I remember you introduced yourself to this group before, earlier this month. We all like to share what we like to read in this group, not what we write. But no doubt the mods will explain, if you have forgotten.
Hi Ankita, and welcome! Jenny is pursuing a philosophical trail, and a few of us join in now and then, so I'm sure you'll fit right in. Quite a few of us like mysteries here :) In fact it's about time we had a thread for it! I'll go and start one up :D

In my 'previous life' I was a freelance Public Relations representative so I understand a good deal about marketing. I understand your desire to promote you poetry and Goodreads is an excellent place to do so- but not in a readers' book group.
There are groups on Goodreads that help writers. These are the poetry writers groups that I could find:
https://www.goodreads.com/group/searc...
If your works are in print- then create a writer's page for yourself on Goodreads and go about it that way.
If your works are not in print- you should make a blog and join Facebook.
I wish you luck!

I am published but I have so many that are still not in books, but I'm working on resolving that issue. :) I hope you all have a fantastic day and God bless you all.

Eventually you will hit upon the correct publication that is the right 'fit' for your poetry.
But stay away from the 'strictly readers' groups. Pitching them can only hurt your efforts.
Hi Jöel! Gigi and Jean have done a great job at gently pointing out what otherwise I would have: you are more than welcome to the group as a reader and lover of literature and poetry in particular, however our group rules regarding self-promotion are very clear and we ask to respect them.Nevertheless: I do wish you all the best with your writing and publications and maybe we'll see you around the group as a reader?
Welcome Joel! Your name sounded so "scandinavian" to me, I was surprised to see you living in the USA!
Jenny wrote: "Welcome Ankita! I had never heard of the The Main Street Series until now, but will look it up!"The Main Street Series is a book you will find only in the children's shelf in any bookstore. But honestly, the most you delve into it, the more beautiful and mystifying it becomes. It is my most favorite book.
Hi again Joel! If you're still around, I'd like to echo Jenny's good wishes with your writing.Gigi has given some very good advice about how to promote your writing, and hopefully no more comments from you will have to be deleted from the group (as they previously were) now that you understand the strict rules in place.
We are a friendly lot, honestly! But we are readers. And that's the reason for my additional post. It's noticeable from your profile that you are in many groups for writers, but have never commented about what you read.
This group has a flourishing poetry section. We choose a poem every Monday (not from our members though!!) and there's a seasonal poet (every three months) organised by Jenny; so every 3 months there's an ongoing discussion about one poet's oeuvre. It's up to you how much you want to read of it.
I picked these as being pertinent to you, but they're only a small part of what's going on. Don't you think it's important for an author to read and discuss, as well as write? Come and join us! :)
Hello everyone. This looks like such an interesting group with a great selection of books on the go. I'm Catherine; it's nice to meet you all. I teach English at a local community college and speech communications at our University. Right now I've got The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens and Fifth Business by Robertson Davies on the go. One thing that really interests me is your attention to poetry. I really look forward to that section of the group.
Welcome Catherine! Looking forward to seeing you around in the group in general and the poetry section in particular. Feel free to jump into any of the discussions!
BTW: The Fifth Business is on my TBR as well, I am looking forward to hearing your thougths on it.
Welcome to the group, Catherine! Hope you will enjoy the discussions and finding lots of new ideas on what to read!
Hello,I'm Ann and I love to read a wide variety of books-literary fiction, historical fiction, classics, mysteries, science fiction and non fiction. I'm retired and live in Santa Barbara, California and have one cat and one step cat ( my roommate's). I read an earlier introduction where the member said he had a not cat but mine is a cat cat with very good lungs and very strong opinions.
The selection of books for this group looks like just what I've been looking for (no vampire romances, Yeah!).
Welcome Ann and Ian!Ann, your cat description made me laugh, I must have missed the not-cat bit of an earlier introduction however I am glad to hear yours is a cat-cat ;)
Feel free to jump into any of the discussion, and Ian have you spotted our Poetry section? Looking forward to meeting you there!
Hi all,I'm Jamie,I used to read a lot as a teenager before uni life set in and other things took priority. 20 years on and after a few not so great life choices I've decided to make reading a priority again and have managed to read at least two books a week this year. Fortunately my wife is a Children's Librarian and has taken on the additional role of 'book pimp'.
Hi everyone, I'm Sharon and I live in Australia and of course I love to read whenever I can. Just joined this group and I've just had a quick read through some of the threads and it looks like an active and friendly group. Look forward to getting to know you all :)
