Hi, LauraT. Thanks! I need to broaden my reading as well.
Good to see you here, Silvia. I've only had the pleasure of being in Italy (Lago di Como and Firenze) for 8 days. I absolutely loved it!

I was looking to add some more activity to my GR life, since I really enjoy the websites interface, and this seemed like a good place to start.
I'm in my last year of highschool, I've read throughout my childhood but lately I've acquired a new found taste. I'm trying my best to visit all the classics, must-reads, and so forth, while enjoying myself along the way with the occasional light reading, or fantasy fiction. I enjoy non-fiction too, philosophy, history, politics, economics, are all topics I enjoy reading about.
So yeah, that's me , nice to be here ^^
Welcome Alpert! Glad to have very joung person with us - at least you like so very joung to me woman of middle age!!!!

Hope you all have fun in this group! We are very diverse with our reading so it's a great place to be :)

I am David. I am retired and live in Kentucky with my wife of 45 years and our two German Shepherds. We are life long readers, (us, not the dogs-they just read minds) but since we retired we are discovering how many treasures we have missed. We are also revisiting some of the books we read and loved years ago and discovering how much our understanding of them has changed.
Welcome David! How I'd love to be retired and have more time to read - maybe because I'm having a lot of problems at work! But in Italy tgey're yearly postponing retirment age and I think I'll manage only to get to the cimitery by then!

Feel free to jump right in, if you haven't already!

Having joined Goodreads since 2012, I've expanded my genre from thrillers and chick lit to Gothic, magical realism, historical fiction, and food writing.

Thanks Leslie! The food writing books I have enjoyed were about "a cook's life" whether they worked in a restaurant or ran one, memoirs of home cooks that that includes recipes, stories about certain food, like the american pie and tacos. I have read one book from a restaurant critic's perspective.

Thanks Amber! I am looking forward to the reads!

Thanks Leslie! The food writing books I have enjoyed were about "a c..."
Oh, sort of like Julia Child's Christmas Memories With Recipes or My Life in France.

Thanks Leslie! The food writing books I have enjoyed ..."
Yes...that would have been a faster explanation. I couldn't help but share!

I love attempting the challenges but I don't get to the library much or they never have what I want so sometimes I don't always finish them. But I try real hard! lol. Looking forward to meeting new friends and of course, talking books! The current monthly read (Rebecca) is a fabulous one btw.

Feel free to set up a thread in our 2014 Personal Challenges folder to chronicle your own challenges if you want.
By the way, I love your avatar/icon picture!
