A few of us are going to attempt Pale Fire in August, and while having a look at your profile I stumbled over The Painted Bird, which must be the book that officially wins the price for being on my 'dying-to-read' list longest. Hi! I'm Bonita from the US. I like the books you are reading and hope to expand my horizons with ones I've never heard of. I'm a stay-at-home mom of 3 (2 are still at home). I'm in the middle of The Count of Monte Cristo, 1984 and The Fountainhead. I've requested books on your list but not sure I will get to them by the end of January. I may just start with your books in February :)

We are currently reading:
The Golden Notebook for Fiction and
Nightmare Abbey by Peacock as our Classic group read, both of which you can find in the Group Read Section where you will also find our seasonal playwright Tom Stoppard

For Non-Fiction we are reading:
I'd Like to Apologize to Every Teacher I Ever Had: My Year as a Rookie Teacher at Northeast High by Tony Danza and
A History of Reading by Alberto Manguel which you will find in the Non Fiction Section

+ we have our seasonal poetAnna Akhmatova in the Monday Poem Section

Just join in with whatever appeals to you most, or simply take your time and look through our threads and tell us about the books you are currently reading.

Welcome Christine! The Group books are shown on the group's home page, or as Amber suggested, you can scan the discussion threads, or you can look at the group bookcase to see what is on the currently-reading shelf. Now that you are a group member, you will also get email reminders of what the group books are about once a month (unless you chose to turn off that feature in your profile).

Feel free to read as many or as few of the group books as you wish! We also have a lot of readalongs, which is where two or more people decide to read a book together.

The group might seem intimidating at first but we are a friendly (and chatty!) bunch. You may want to start with Book Chat - 'Fiction - What are you reading?' or 'Nonfiction - What are you reading?' if that is your preference... or just join in General Discussion - 'General Chit-Chat'. Well, we would be happy to see you post in any of the discussions, so spend a little time looking around & then jump in :)

Thank you for your comments and advice. I am fairly technologically illiterate so I appreciate your patience as I figure it out. This does seem like a really nice (and safe) place to share about what I'm reading.

Just look through the Readalong folder (about halfway down the list of Discussion topics, or you can follow this link) and see what books people are reading, or you can post in the 'Would anyone like to join me' thread if you have a specific book you would like to read.

If you see a book that you are interested in, just post in the thread to introduce yourself...

The house is really great! The only "problem" is that we have 3 big bedrooms and I've lost my kids:before they were always in ourvliving room, now each in his room!!!
