Hi ELisabeth. Glad to see we're looked at also from Africa!!! Joyin us in the discussions you see around:as you love books, you'll find plenty of discussions to interest you, I hope!
Welcome Cheryl! You have a great selection of books in your favourites shelf! I was quite surprised to find W.G. Sebald among your favourite authors, since even in Germany he's an author that isn't nearly read enough. How did you come across his novels?
Hello! My name is Terri and I live in Cincinnati, Southwest Ohio, USA. I'm glad to have found such a cosmopolitan group! I read voraciously--for 2013 I read 275 books. (I'm disabled and have a lot of free time to read since I don't watch much TV and find it hard to get out of the house.) I love all different kinds of genres. My current fascinations are 19th century fiction and Japanese fiction. My first love is literary fiction, I also read mysteries/thrillers, memoirs and biographies, history, and historical fiction. I can get interested in just about anything, though. Looking forward to lots of good suggestions from this group!
Hi Terri! Welcome to the group. That is a fantastic amount if books in a year. I'm not at that level but you'll find many similar readers in this group. Looking forward to reading with yiu
Welcome to the group, Terri! Look forward to any recommendations you may have for us - feel free to join in any of the discussions/group reads etc!
Welcome Terri! We seem to have some overlap as I also like Victorian fiction, mysteries, and historical fiction. Japanese fiction is something I know very little...Please feel free to join in any of the discussions.
Welcome here Terri!!! Really grat your reading this year. Hopefully next year you'll stay a bit more with us and a bit less on books - this is only envy on my side!!!! ;)
@ Terri, Welcome. I too am a lover of Japanese fiction. I have not read many works, but whatever I have read of Japanese literature has stayed with me. I always wanted to read more Japanese.

The North as well! I am originally from the East but have been living in Bremen for 3 years now.
Sometimes me and my husband use this site. He's not into much anymore but I do. my name is Tina. Recently I started my own profile. Sorry if I confused you.
I hope you continue on here. Share your books u like. Ask about any books your are interested in. WE all will be glad to help you!!
Pia wrote: "What a coincidence. I've been living in Bremen before I moved to Kiel two years ago and plan on moving back in a couple of years :) I love Bremen." Love it here too! Be sure to let me know when you move back ;)!!
It was really common up to 20/30 years ago. Now all catholic names are not so much in fashion - very few Maria or Giuseppe, which were thousends up to a certain point, and more Natasha. I'm not catholic, but I can't say I agree ...
Hi everyone, my name is Jacob. I'm from North Carolina, USA. I've never been a book reader period until about a year ago. I don't have too many under my belt yet and I haven't ventured very far from YA or fiction. I chose this group for its laid-back nature and appreciation of various genres. I think history, historical fiction and nonfiction are my main focuses now. Let me know if their is anything else you'd like to know. I'm very happy to be a part of your club and look forward to getting to know you.
Welcome Jacob! I love North Carolina, especially the western part near Tennessee - beautiful! Feel free to jump into any of the discussions or to sit back and lurk a while...
@everyone~Thanks for the warm welcome!
Not only am I new to reading but also threads, forums, and just social media in general. Everything is still new and exciting I must say; even though I've practically lived on a computer, I've never been one for the whole networking thing. I very much enjoy the diversity here, I'm from a small town without much of it. I moved to Potomac, Maryland during 2012 and had my first taste of ethnic and cultural diversity and I must say that I really do love all the different people of the world.
@Leslie
Even though I live in western North Carolina I've rarely been close to the Tennessee boarder. Just yesterday I was staring out at the mountains as if it was the first time I'd seen them. For some reason or another most of my journeys point me in the opposite direction.
