Thanks guys! :) I'm enjoying this book so far. I got a chance to meet the author and she started talking about this series and how it was being made into a movie and the plot just hooked me.

I feel so ashamed it took me so long to get here! But anyways, I like the way this book is written and how the author reveals information; it gives it an air of suspense. Here are my thoughts on the novel:

I don't like Ruby, she annoys me and it makes me want to strangle her and throw the book at a wall. I adore Sam. She seems to possess qualities that I wish I had, which makes heroic in my eyes. I adore heroic, fearless characters.

Ok, now I hate everyone. What's going on? Why do I hate everyone? Why must they all be so annoying?

**Ch. 8 -Ch. 18: (view spoiler)[
All is well in the world again. I love Liam and Chubs, they're awesome; so are Zu and Ruby. I disliked her at the beginning and just hoped she would just come out and tell them the truth, but of course, things can never be that simple. I really like the characters now and I'm glad I didn't like them before. It shows amazing character development.

Oooohhhh they know! They know! They know! I'm so glad they finally know the truth, it was beginning to eat me up inside. I'm very curious to see what happens next!!!

Awwww! I'm so happy right now! Can't things just remain this way? I know something bad will happen, but I'm just enjoying how things are for now. I love how the author built the suspense by inserting a flashback in between the incident and when Ruby wakes up and I love how we figure Ruby out slowly, like little pieces of the puzzle dropping at different moments. I'm starting to really get into this novel.

Ooooo. Hmmm. I don't know if I like Clancy... I definitely don't particularly dislike him, I'm just not sure if I should trust him. Honestly, I kinda thought the Slip Kid would be the Orange guy from the beginning, the one who told everyone to run. I know that they supposedly killed all the orange and reds, but I thought he might be a character I wanted to learn more about. Oh well, this is certainly still a very interesting development.

Ok. I like Clancy, I've decided to trust him for the time being. After that phrase: "You already had your first lesson. You just didn't realize it." Wise words. I like it. I have a feeling I've made the wrong choice, but oh well. Here goes nothing! Ok, the more I read, the more I feel like Clancy is manipulating everyone at camp. I know Ruby says that he just has this natural charm, but why is everyone so damn scared to disappoint him? Ok please don't tell me this is gonna be a love triangle... I can't take any more of those.

I knew it! Damn it, why did I trust him? Now I'm going to be doubting every single person and character for at least a week. Ugh. Why. Just. Why. Ugh.

What. Damn. My heart is pounding. Stupid Ruby. WHY WOULD YOU CALL?

My gosh. God. Wow. Wow. Wow. Can't wait to read the next. Wow. Just wow. I can't right now. I just can't. I feel like crying, laughing, and throwing the book against the wall at the same time. I'm so angry; I can't believe it ended this way, but at the same time, I think it's a perfect way to end the first book in a series. It's not particularly a cliff-hanger, but it leaves a world of possibilities for the next book. Damn. It was good. I liked it. I really really liked it. I honestly started reading this novel a while ago, but I read like three chapters in a week. I really just read it in two days and it's been a while since I've been able to get into a book and just lose track of time while reading. I love that feeling you get when you forget that you live in this world.

And of course Ruby made Liam forget her, way to take away his choice and not give him a say. That doesn't make you strong for making a hard decision, that makes you just as bad as everyone else - thinking you know what's best for someone. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 9 (view spoiler)[ It’s been a while since I read this but I remember that it didn’t leave a good impression in the end and I wonder why. So far it’s been really good. The world building is interesting and it has a strong beginning. The only thing I don’t like so far is the lack of explanation for the colors. What does green do? Do all orange have the ability to control minds? Ruby’s powers are different but she’s considered as orange. (hide spoiler)]

Finished! (view spoiler)[ I stand by my original review and rating of 3 stars. Darkest Minds had some awesome plot twists and that ending was crazy. Although, I didn't really understand why she had to wipe Liam's memory. Why couldn't she just let him keep it and they go on their adventure together? Chubs and Zu are still my fav characters. But anyway, this book was just your typical dystopian story. There world is in chaos. Everyone's trying to run across the country and find some organization that will fit their needs. A friend of mine that originally buddy read this with me compared it to Shatter Me. I haven't read Shatter Me back then but after reading it, I do see a lot of similarities. A girl with dangerous powers who finds someone to teach it to her. Both of them have weak personalities. Both are being pulled by two different dystopian organizations. The main difference is that Shatter Me was reasonably paced but Darkest Minds dragged....omg you guys the difference between these two were 200 pgs apart. (hide spoiler)]

Finished (view spoiler)[ Jude is my favorite character. It breaks my heart to read that he died. He's so cute and adorable and he didn't deserve the way he died. For anyone's sake, he died with everyone surrounding him. I just find it unbelievable and stupid. He could've hold Ruby or anyone's shirt or hands while walking so that he won't get separated but obviously the writer has other plans. Nobody can replace Jude's character. He's still my favorite. Up to chapter 5 (view spoiler)[ Wow there’s a lot of new characters! The Children’s league is definitely sketchy and possibly corrupt. I like that Ruby is finally taking on a more leader aspect and that she realizes she needs to be a leader more. (hide spoiler)]

It did leave at a cliffhanger and made you want to read more but at the same time, it caused more harm than good to Liam. I did really like Jude and Vida's addition. I was so sad with what happened with Jude! Yet his death reflected what was good about this book. All the violence and the naked truth of this world. I liked that Bracken didn't gloss over how messed up the world has become. Everyone is pretty much after their own agenda and they're willing to go as far as they can to attain it. (hide spoiler)]

Ch 1-15 (view spoiler)[ I haven't read a dystopian in a while, but I like 4 main characters. Zu is tiny but mighty, Liam is the leader, Chubs is the fiercely loyal, but skeptical/practical guy, and Ruby is discovering. I was kind of hoping she would try to experiment with her abilities or at least have more character development. She seems pretty flat right now. WHO CAN I TRUST IN THIS BOOK?!?! Everyone is out to get everyone and all these kids are dying and the world is freaked, meaning the government is waging war. I wonder where this story is going (hide spoiler)]
Ch 20 (view spoiler)[ I'm glad everyone knows about Ruby's powers and that there aren't anymore secrets that we know of that haven't been told. But I don't like where this is going....Something bad is going to happen (hide spoiler)]
Ch 25 (view spoiler)[ Clancy is super sketchy and obviously wants to be with Ruby, even though she likes Liam and Liam likes her back. I'm afraid Clancy is either going to hurt Liam out of jealousy or hurt Ruby with a whole "if I can't have you, no one can." I'm worried about Zu... Will she come back to ruby, Chubs, and Liam? Finished: (view spoiler)[ For starters, ZU CAME BACK AND I'M SO HAPPY!! But Cole....Why did he have to die? First Jude, then him...My heart is sad. I was so frustrated by Ruby messing with Liam and not being to fix what she messed up with him, but I mean I guess it all worked out in the end. A sad, but satisfying end. (hide spoiler)]

I think what alex bracken has done really well is she's really developed this world with a lot of detail and it shows because unlike a lot of other books it tells you about places other than america and how the government has used resources and stuff.
