The reconcilliantion will be very steamy. I'll put money on it!

Bonnie | 60 comments I think we all sometimes are under that curse. We seek for happiness when the very thing we crave is right in front of us unrecognized.
I was disappointed in this book some of the time too however. I think she is rushing somewhat and gleening over details, the violent fairies were not my cup of tea. I think she is being influenced by the series now which is a shame because I loved the books up until this one. I only like parts of this one. I hope the next one is pure Charlaine.

Emma O (emmielou0110) | 4 comments I think Sam is the best option so Sookie. He is stable, he can give her kids and a seminormal life. To me, Sookie seems to know that Eric is fun, but what can he give her in the long term. Bill seems to be trying to make things right, but he will always still have to be a vampire before a husband. I love Eric and the sex is fun and exciting, but if I was Sookie I would want someone who I knew would still be there in 15 years.

Emma, I agree that I'd want someone to be there for the long term but who honestly thinks that way in the heat of the moment? Sam is obviously the best pick of them all but for whatever reason, she refuses to want to go there with him.

Jamie ~ Bad Boy Inspector (jamie_badboyinspector) If I was Sookie I would definitely pick ERIC!! That is one HOT Vamp!!!

message 58: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Eric definately. Sam seems like such a safe, boring choice to me. Where's the passion there? Why date a typical, boring, everyday, generic guy who runs a bar, turns into a DOG (man's best friend, not lover) and is your boss when you can have a hot sexy fun passionate relationship with a viking! Sam is a dime a dozen to me, more of a father figure protector than anything. If I were playing it safe I'd even say Bill- it would still be more interesting than Sam and he was a family guy in his real life but he has a little more bite (ha). Alcide just sounds hot but overall who wouldn't want a viking?! Bring on Mr January!

message 59: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 193 comments I can see why exciting is appealing. But as someone who married the safe reliable guy, I can tell you passion is not automatically absent *wink* . It doesn't hurt that I have always been attracted to 'geeky' guys. Eric would be a fun fling, but I could never settle for being second to so much else. I don't understand how women who are married to 'powerful' men can stand it. I want a family first kinda guy, and that's what I got.

April | 26 comments Jessica wrote: "I can see why exciting is appealing. But as someone who married the safe reliable guy, I can tell you passion is not automatically absent *wink* . It doesn't hurt that I have always been attracted..."

I completely agree with you Jessica! As far as the books go...Eric is fun and I think he does love Sookie. I have been on Team Bill for a while though. I like Sam and I think she could make a life with him...although I didn't think he was in this last book enough, he has shown through everything that he cares about her. I won't be upset if she ends up with any of them though.

message 61: by Susan (new)

Susan (dollymama) | 3 comments Sam would be the smart choice for both of us....but goodbye smart...it would have to be that total hunk of viking!!

Jamie ~ Bad Boy Inspector (jamie_badboyinspector) I always go for the bad boys and they can be just as safe and stable!! I think Eric has so much potential and loves Sookie very much. He could protect her and love her at the same time which is such a turn on..lol!! As much as Sookie wants a normal life it is never going to happen. She is not normal and never will be. Sam would be the safe smart choice but I don't think that is what Sookie truly wants. TEAM ERIC all the way!!

I couldnt agree more ERIC for sure but Sam is the good one & who cares about the politics.. personally I think it makes eric even sexier!

message 64: by Geraldine (new)

Geraldine (sabo280) | 3 comments Eric is definitely the man for Sookie, not only is he georgeous and the best sex ever, but he is soooo funny and caring, when he sent over the coat for her my heart melted!

I loved the way he took care of her in the new book after the...I won't say what just in case but yeah, he cares about it. It's not just what she can do for him.

message 68: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Logan (tnashes) | 7 comments I want Sookie with Eric. He is soo sexy and powerful. The two of them could rule the world, but I don't think Sookie would let him get too out of hand!

message 69: by Jaycee (last edited Jun 15, 2009 04:20PM) (new)

Jaycee (goodreadscomnyx) | 7 comments Watching True Blood - Sookie and Bill are my first choice... but reading the first 8 books I'm torn between Eric and Alcide. Sam's out cuz he does not seem so interested in Sookie throughout the series (not as gaga as True Blood make him out to be) Quinn seemed to walk away to easily. Eric and Alcide both seem to find ways to avoid letting Sookie how much they really care but are unconditionally there for her when needed.

message 70: by Ranata (new)

Ranata Clark (thatchicknata) Alcide became a complete ass. If he does a 180 in the show, I'll consider him but book Alcide was not cool. LOL.

Eric for the hotness, sexy factor and Sam for the normalcy she wants.

message 71: by CindyToo (new)

CindyToo | 107 comments Bill would be great, if Eric didn't exist. I'm just waiting for "my lover" to change to "my love". {sigh}

message 72: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) For Sookie, I think it would have to be someone completely new, and probably a were. She wants kids, she wants relative quiet, and if she was with a were, she could have that but still keep up with this new world she's entered.

If it were ME, I'd choose Eric all the way. Quinn was yum, but I'd feel the same way Sookie did about his familial obligations. I've broken up with someone who was too quick to jump when mommy needed him and allowed family considerations to overshadow his relationship obligations. If Quinn had called and explained the situation when mommy escaped, he'd be much higher in my esteem. And maybe it's a New York thing, but I don't have a problem with being called babe.

But Eric. I'd take him and hold on tight. I'd also ask him for reasons for his actions rather than dismiss him as being too high-handed. I mean really? Over two months and she hasn't gotten the low down on the bond and his memories? But maybe I'm of a more practical nature than Sookie. Like for instance with the knife, I would've waited til Victor was gone and then asked "So, why did we just do that? How does this benefit me?" rather than freaking out as she did. Maybe I'm more vamp-like than Sook. ::shrug::

I HATE to say it because I want to read about all the Eric sex I can, but I think Sookie's snap-judgements and temper won't let them last long. She's going to keep getting offended rather than learn his decisions are politically engineered to keep her home and away from other vamps, to prevent her from being used by them.

message 73: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) By the way, Charlaine herself said that Vin Diesel was partly her template for Quinn. And Vin in Pitch Black? Yeah.
Although The Rock? Now that y'all have mentioned him? Oh Lord, that's a man.

You know, Eric is my usual "type", but after seeing the actor above (my choice for Quinn) I'm having second thoughts... lol.

Kandice I will chime in with agreement. That guy would make a great Quinn! Yes, he could be lighter, but even as is...WOWZA!!!

message 81: by Alvy (last edited Jul 01, 2009 11:16PM) (new)

Alvy | 1 comments I love Eric but Sam seems the logical choice for Sookie. In the more recent books it seems like she is really getting along with him now. I do hope that Eric wins out in the end, but who knows because at the end of #9 she says she suddenly loves Bill again.

message 82: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1 comments I have been cheering for Eric since he lost his memory, but if they cast someone like The Rock as Quinn and made a bigger part for him, I might have second thoughts! They are all so freakin' yummy!!!! :)

message 83: by Leah (new)

Leah White | 1 comments I would pick Quinn, he is hubby material, and has a steady job and she would be his sidekick! I love Quinn!

message 84: by Julia (new)

Julia | 58 comments Sookie made me angry when she pushed Quinn away for being devoted to his family. Hello! He's devoted to his family. Means he'd be a good husband and father. Sookie, Sookie, Sookie... (shaking head.)

message 85: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) No no no, it actually means that mommy owns him and he'll drop Sookie in a second if they need him.

But I think what's most important is he didn't call...before everything went down, he planned on spending an entire month at her house, but he just never bothered to contact her again.
I hate a man who tries to put you on layaway. If I were her, I wouldn't have even lasted those few weeks she did, claiming to still be Quinn's! Please, as soon as someone covertly picked up the car without saying so much as boo, I would have washed my hands of him.

message 86: by Julia (new)

Julia | 58 comments Quinn's mom and his sister are crazy and that puts a whole different slant on it. He's been their caretaker, parent, possibly since he was a little boy. Just as Tara in the tv show is more the mother than her mother.

He should have called. He screwed up there. In addition to everything else, he's human. He tried to apologize in Dead and Gone, but...

The men in Sookie's life *never* get a second chance -- unless he is Eric.

Hoyt loves his mother, but he is okay. (Not for Sookie, though.) And he has *terrible* choice in friends.

message 87: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Bill got more than one chance. The first time she wanted a little space, he tarted it up with Andy's sister! And Quinn was already pretty absentee with work. Add heavy family obligations and how can a girl compete, ya know?

message 88: by Sarahbear (new)

Deb Noxon (financedeb) | 1 comments Most definitely.....ERIC!!!!

message 91: by Lu (new)

Lu Eric!

message 92: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) I just love Eric's confidence and straightforward attitude. He's also so quietly observant, sending Sookie things she needs with no prompting, no hints...he just sees a need and fills it. And though she sees him as high-handed, he actually does all these things to her benefit but never asks for anything in return, outside of a conversation or two. Plus he's just the epitome of sexy. Adore him.

message 93: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Eric is more flashy and powerful. However he is all into himsself and his real attraction to Sooke is the assitance she can give him and the prestige having her binngs him. I think Bill really and truely loves Sookie. He was her first lover and I think he will get her back in the end. Only problem is he is a Vampire. Sookie needs to fall in love with a normal guy. I can see Sookie asking Bill to turn her when she gets older and is afraid of loosing her looks. She and Bill will live happily ever, and ever after.

message 94: by Siempre (new)

Siempre (josiehaustin) | 91 comments No doubt I would totally pick Eric YUM YUM YUM and he has a soft side as long as you keep a witch around to bring it all the way out. LOL

message 95: by Cary (last edited Jul 09, 2009 06:30AM) (new)

Cary (vortigern) Ha you have not read Dead and Gone book 8. Eric started out his vampire life as a homosexual. LOL! Eric was walking home from visiting a girl in another village to replace his dead wife, when he was attacked by a Roman vampire who was GAY. He made Eric GAY. But Eric in his human life had been a regular guy. So as soon as he got away from his maker. Then he got back into girls again. Yeah Eric has a soft side. tee hee. Actualy I dig Eric. Because he is so old and been there and done that. Bill is a much younger vampire. He has a truly good nature however having been a Christian and a farmer. Before he was a vampire the only people Bill had killed was during the Civil War. Eric was a pagan and a Viking who made his living by raiding, robbing, and killing. So his turning into a vampire did not make him anymore evil than he already was. Bill was just a gentleman farmer and civil war veteran when he got turned. So that would explain the difference in their natures.

message 96: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (neimanmarxist) | 80 comments Eric all the way! I really couldn't stand Sam at first, but after a few of the books I really couldn't help but love him. So he would be second. Bill just grates on my nerves!

message 97: by Cary (last edited Jul 09, 2009 07:08AM) (new)

Cary (vortigern) Eric all the way GAY. Have you read book 8 Dead and Gone yet? I think Bill is real laid back and cool. Bill was a Christian and a genteman farmer when he was turned. Eric was a Pagan Viking robber and murder who was turned by a gay Roman vampire. The men they were before they were turned is revealed in their nature as vampires. I really dig Eric and Bill both. I like the TV version of Eric because he is much more ruthless and cold blooded than the books. TV Bill is not exactly being a good dad to his new little teen vampire. However I think if Bill had not come in when he did. Hoyt would have been a few quarts low, LOL.

message 98: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (neimanmarxist) | 80 comments Eric is clearly not all the way gay, regardless of his past partners. Even is he does like men... he obviously likes women as well. The last thing I think about when I think of Bill is laid back and cool. In Sookie's world, give me a Viking over a Christian gentleman any day. ;) LOL

message 99: by Lauren (new)

Lauren I always got the vibe that the sex of a person didn't matter to vampires- they didn't think of it in the same terms as humans. They all seem to swing both ways given the opportunity. Maybe I'm wrong but it just seemed like a very open community sexually speaking. I take it all for what it is.
