Book Description:

August (Auggie) Pullman was born with a facial deformity that prevented him from going to a mainstream school—until now. He's about to start 5th grade at Beecher Prep, and if you've ever been the new kid then you know how hard that can be. The thing is Auggie's just an ordinary kid, with an extraordinary face. But can he convince his new classmates that he's just like them, despite appearances?

Myra (myraelise) | 34 comments I am hoping to actually get this book eventually. Currently #31 on the hold list.

Baqash | 106 comments I just started reading it. I read one blurb that called it dramatic comedy. so is it drama, or is it comedy, or neither.

LOL, who knows.

Just picked it up today. Starting tomorrow.

Baqash | 106 comments I wanted to like this book but in the end would not have cared either way if I read it. the intent of the story is great, particularly for tweeners, but it just isn't that great as literature. perhaps the team issue is that I don't fall into the intended readership. I do see it working as a teaching tool for POV and first person narrative. I. can't say much more without spoilers.

I'm in the first 1/4 of this book. (my reading time has been lacking this month) I can clearly see a message in the book. We'll see how the rest goes.

It reminded me of the movie mask with Cher, but in a somewhat different setting

Myra (myraelise) | 34 comments Down to #21 on the hold list. :P

Myra (myraelise) | 34 comments Finally got this and finished it. See my review for a bit more detail, but overall I thought it was good, but not very realistic.
