What's the worst YA book you've ever read?
The Deltora Quest series by Emily Rodda, though I'm not sure if they're considered YA or children's books.Otherwise I'll have to say the Twilight series, especially New Moon and Breaking Dawn.

The last book in the Divergent series: Allegiant; I haven't read but a few chapters. I think the characters have changed and the different perspectives are what really make the book bad. Like, you can't tell who is speaking, you have to go back and check.

The Fault in our Stars was pretty bad too, I thought. I didn't really like Hazel -- and not to mention, I couldn't understand half of the dialogue... I skipped over most of what the characters said. :)

and its sequels. Right now I'm in the middle of Dark Flame and it's just rehash after rehash of the first book over and over. Dear god...
as a series. First, it's a terrible spin-off of Vampire Academy, with its lame protagonist, complete de-characterization of the "love interest", abandonment of all secondary characters in the second book into the very far background and boring plot/conflict, if one was bothered to be put in. *cough* The Fiery Heart *cough* I'll probably get some hate for this one, but yeah, I could not stand this series, especially for being VA's follow up. (I adored VA)

I didn't like TFIOS, If I Stay or Divergent (it seemed like a pretty thinly-veiled rip-off of Hunger Games to me.)
Another book I didn't like was The Chaos of Stars . It was pretty boring and the writing wasn't the best.

Wouldn't say it was the worst book as it was well written, but the fault in our stars I found to be very boring and predictable. So that or an Alien book I read....wow that was garbage!

Oohhhh that sucks but who knows maybe you will like it?? The plot was okay, I just couldn't stand the protagonist.

I have a new one...couldn't finish it last night. PODs by Michelle K. Pickett. There are mixed reviews on it, some like it, of course, but the main character annoyed me and there was too much kissing going on. I've never read so much 'making out' in one book.
I have this book called Towering by Alex Flinn and it is so pathetic. I mean, the characters had only met like 2 days and they were already declaring love for each other.
I really didn't like Divergent, I couldn't even finish it. I also didn't care for Mockingjay. Katniss was super annoying.

Stolen- Lucy Christopher (I don't even know what the story was. It was simply a book of words)
Fallen (couldn't finish it, which never happens. can't even remember who wrote it)

Plus any other book with a blurb that sounded like 'Dadada was an ordinary girl but then she met a boy' or 'Dadada always knew she was different'. Also anything with a love triangle, so over those. And I love strong female leads, but it'd be nice for once if we had a male lead role again, like harry potter. Kind of missing how he didn't turn everything into a drama like most female characters do. Bless J.K Rowling.
I would RECOMMEND though that you read these books (some may be for a younger age group but they're still my favourites. This list is VERY long)
Virals- Kathy Reichs (most underrated series but my favourite)
Skulduggery Pleasant - Derek Landy (the mix of action, humour and strong believable plots is perfection)
Ingo - Helen Dunmore (the only book about mermaids I have loved. READ IT!)
Harry Potter - J.K Rowling (if I could only read one book for the rest of my life it would be any of the harry potter series)
Divergent - Veronica Roth (a lot of people say it is a rip off of the hunger games. not true at all. and Tris is definitely a strong character who's not afraid to get her hands dirty)
Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins (I will admit, I didn't like mockingjay the first time I read it just because it was so sad but a second reading of it made me love it as much as Catching Fire)
Ranger's Apprentice - John Flanagan (who doesn't like bows and arrows and awesome medieval stuff? also yay for Australian authors!)
The Mortal Instruments - Cassandra Clare (sadly the last book was a bit pathetic and predictable but the world she has created is so different to anything out there. it's wonderful)
The Fault in Our Stars - John Green (Actually made me scared of dying. Also made me thankful for my health)
North Child - Edith Patou (another underrated book and if you want to read about trolls, do not read Amanda hocking, read this)

Do you remember what the cover of Fallen looked like? B/C I read Fallen by Laurie Falter (Feather on cover, not crying girl) and really enjoyed it. It had a strong female lead and no love triangle ;)

You don't have to have a big publisher backing you to have great writing, as evidenced by the long, long list of big name books people find absolute rubbish.

Allegiant was really bad and a major disappointment for me.
*gasp* I can't believe you people!!!! First TFIOS, now Allegiant???!!!!! They're like the best books for me!!!I would probably say that the worst YA book I've ever read would be the cassandra clare books like Clockwork Prince and City of blah blah blah. Don't get me wrong, in my quote section I have so many from her books. I just didn't like the plot and whatnot. I was in the middle of the second book in the prequel series and then I gave up on it. I mean, if I put my heart and soul into it, I might like it. But for now, I don't like. But seriously, TFIOS? Not to get in my religious mode, but that must be a sin not to enjoy the book. For God's sake, it's about girl that loves a guy that has CANCER. CANCER. And then he dies. God.....

@marmalade4evsI don't mean to start a fight or anything, but basically you are saying that because TFIOS is about a girl and a guy who have cancer we have to like it?
I personally find the fact that those two books (TFIOS and Allegiant) are your favourites, really revealing....
@Marmalade4evs, sorry to rain on your parade, but taste is taste. I really liked TFIOS, but if some people didn't that's their problem. Like Rachel said, it's not because it's about a couple with cancer that we have to like it. In fact, I liked it for a many reasons but just the fact that they had cancer wasn't one.As for Allegiant, I repeat, taste is taste. I thought it was really bad which is a shame because I was in love with Divergent and Insurgent.

I didnt like the Casandra Claire books either. Well, i liked the prequel series but not the city of ___s. I found the main character annoying and literally the only reason i stuck with it for so long was for Simon and Isabelle.
Matched, TFIOS, and Mortal Instruments
I'd have to say Marked by P.C. and Kristen Cast. The writing was atrocious, racist even at some points. “Her skin was the colour of coffee, but with lots of milk.” Not the exact quote, but it captures the right idea. STOP COMPARING SKIN COLOUR TO FOOD! Zoey also says her older sister is a bitch and a slut. Why? Because she's popular and a cheerleader. I thought we left that stereotype behind with the early 2000s. Guess I'm wrong. Her sister apparently slept with all the guys on the football team. If that's not slut shaming (and an almost definite fake rumour) then I don't know what is. There's so much more I could say about this book but I don't have the time of day. I swear, the book is terrible.I also didn't like The Hunger Games, though not to the same extent as Marked. I only read the first one and I wasn't impressed. It was a good idea, but the delivery was a bit weak. Katniss wasn't particularly likeable, but not in an interesting way. I found she was a bit dull. I also didn't like the way both twelve year olds were presented as babies. I read it at twelve and I found it a little insulting. I get that Katniss babied Prim and in the Games, Rue represented Prim, but twelve year olds are not all like that, and I would have liked to see a better representation of that age group.
Will Grayson Will Grayson is just a waste of time. While I thought it had a few good lines, it was overall very boring. I could only manage half of it. The characters were all really annoying. I kept hoping for a meteor to fall, killing them all. If that does happen at the end, tell me, and I'll finish it. Otherwise, it was just a pretentious piece of crap without a storyline. However, still not as bad as Marked, even though I actually finished that one.
I mean the list goes on but these are probably the worst in most aspects due to plot, characters, relationships, and just lack of logical thought in the book.

I don't know if you'd consider this YA but I found The Lovely Bones disturbing :/ book I would be least likely to recommend to anyoneAs for everything else you guys are complaining about, I loved Harry Potter (except book 5 for some odd reason), I found the Twilight books to be somewhat boring but definitely not the worst, haven't read Fallen, Hunger Games and Catching Fire I loved but I hated Mockingjay, The Fault In Our Stars is indeed overrated but I like it anyway, Matched trilogy bored the hell out of me, Hush Hush was just... another bore, Evermore series was terrible (I liked Riley's series better and that's for KIDS), Perks of Being A Wallflower and Paper Towns were simply entertaining and definitely quotable, I love reading Meg Cabot just for that shallow happiness and etc etc etc :))

Oh I hated matched with a passion. Any book where you wait her hate or don't care about ANY of the characters is a no in my book (hehe)
