I agree and disagree, it's not the worst i've ever read but I really did not enjoy it as much as I did Catching Fire and The Hunger Games. It went too downhill.

Ugh, I barely made it 20 pages into Matched before I dropped it

Jonnathan This shit:

Breaking Dawn (Twilight, #4) by Stephenie Meyer

Worst final book of a saga ever!.

message 55: by JO (new) - rated it 5 stars

JO Twighlight series is really bad, so uncomplicated and all the characters a steriotypes and unlikable. I thought I AM NUMBER FOUR was bad too. A big monster in a truck in a fight in a school? Once those monster things came in it got even worse. Matched was lame too, but I had just read Hunger Games so maybe the love triangle, dystopian thang was beaten to death. Has anyone read a really sweet nice book called Flipped? Its dated a bit ya know no cell phones and what not, but I loved that book

I have Thumped, the second book, and REALLY want to read it..

Natalie I'm pretty much the only one, but I HATED The Perks of Being a Wallflower...I didn't like the writing style and I just found it disturbing for some reason. Charlie really creeps me out. Honestly, I don't know why but I just could not read that book.

message 58: by Arya (last edited Aug 03, 2013 08:32PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Arya Hawthorne It may not be the worst, but God I hate Fallen. The main character… ugh. She was just another Bella, except worse, because at least Bella is the original. I can't even remember the main character's name; just that I hated her.
I like city of bones, even of I did hate jace and clary. TID was much better.
And I read some book where the main character's name was pagan and there as a love interest names dank… worst names ever but that book was DNF.

Moggy I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You (Gallagher Girls, #1) by Ally Carter

Truly Awful. Sorry, I know it has lots of fans, but it really didn't cut it for me.

Twilight (Twilight, #1) by Stephenie Meyer

And if I had bothered to read twilight, I would have put that on here too.

Chloe Fandom Queen The worst book I've read has got to be Brisingr.
Brisingr (The Inheritance Cycle, #3) by Christopher Paolini

I absolutely hated it. Didn't even finish it. I'm not going to rant here but my review has all the information of how BAD it is. I'm really sorry to those who like it, I just don't.

Helga I always find something/someone loveable in every book, but in theese books I didn't find anything:
Evernight by Claudia Gray
Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
The most of Meg Cabot's books
The Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar
and
Allyson Noel's books

message 63: by Jenn (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jenn Jeffrey Overstreet's four books in The Auralia Thread (Auralia's Colors, Cyndere's Midnight, Raven's Ladder, and The Ale Boy's Feast). He did get a few things right, otherwise I wouldn't have read them all, but it was hard. I don't like any writer who builds up to what you think is going to be a great scene, then skips it entirely and picks up after the big important thing happens.

message 64: by Rae (new) - rated it 5 stars

Rae How I live now is by far the worst. I seriously recommend you don't even glance at it in the book store. I also don't really understand why people are saying the worst YA book they've read is The Fault in our Stars, Divergent or City of Bones when there are books like Fallen, Across the Universe and Entangled out there. Come on guys, really? I know people are entitled to their own opinions and fair enough if you don't like it, but saying it's the worst YA book you've ever read? I find that hard to believe!

I find this comment very odd and so if I've misunderstood your comment then I apologise.

You're frustrated because people have listed books that they've read but not listed the books that (I assume) you've read? It sounds like you're assuming that people have read the majority of YA novels that's in the market.

If they have yet to read books like 'Fallen' (never heard of the other two you've mentioned) and so on then they can't mention them in this thread, can they? They've not read them so they can't say if it's the worst YA books they've read.

For example, if I'm talking about myself then out of the ones you've listed in your comment, I've only read 'Fault in our Stars' which I've commented on this thread that for me, I would consider it one of the worst YA books that I've read.
Also, when you factor in people's opinions, their usual reading habits and age then of course you're going to get differing opinions.

Kristina Rachel wrote: "How I live now is by far the worst. I seriously recommend you don't even glance at it in the book store. I also don't really understand why people are saying the worst YA book they've read is The F..."

Agreed. I just...find it hard to believe it's possible to hate The Fault in Our Stars.

Autumn The worst YA book I've ever read was "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist"

message 69: by Brittney (last edited Aug 06, 2013 07:56PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Brittney The Nine Lives of Chloe King Trilogy by Liz Braswell writing as Celia Thomson.
I am not completely sure if it is a trilogy or not. This book is a New York Times Bestseller...how is that possible? Many people might have enjoyed the trilogy, but i just didn't. I mean,it's my opinion, not everyone is going to adore and love the same book. I read The Fallen and enjoyed it very much. I put it down for nearly a year, before I got the rest of the trilogy. Since I didn't remember The Fallen,I re-read it and was extremely bored even in action and shocking moments. I don't know how I enjoyed it before. It was the same thing with the rest of the trilogy. This book is one book that i thought was amazing at first but then didn't think so at the end.No offense to Liz Braswell,Celia Thomson, and the fans of the books. This was just my opinion.

Ashley-Anne Twilight hands down. I am not exagerrating when I say that I finished that book feeling worried and anxious that it would influence young girls to seek out the kind of perverted ''love'' it promoted. I hate it for the hold it has on teenagers.

message 71: by Alexis (new)

Alexis The House of Night series, hands down.

message 72: by Cody (new) - rated it 2 stars

Cody Hunger Games.

Megan Blue Bloods, by Melissa De La Cruz, I couldn't even finish it.

Mary Ayesha wrote: "I didn't like

I have heard from others that it wasn't very good. After being disappointed by, Catching Fire, I have been afraid to read Mockingjay...and this has been going on for a few years now.

message 75: by Mary (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mary I'd have to say some of the serious snooze inducing books for me where:

The Line (The Line, #1) by Teri Hall Trapped by Michael Northrop

Uh, yeah I'd have to say it is. Its just extremely fake and unbelievably corny at times. I wont give anything away in case you're going to read it anyways but yeah it really sucked. :(
Not to mention its pretty much a hunger games rip-off. The similarities are unmistakable. But at least you got it for free!

Jennifer Harris Once in a Full Moon (Full Moon, #1) by Ellen Schreiber Magic of the Moonlight (Full Moon, #2) by Ellen Schreiber and Full Moon Kisses (Full Moon, #3) by Ellen Schreiber

It's almost funny how terrible these are. Awful.

Yeah, I don't like The Fault in Our Stars all that much. I'm in the middle of reading it only because it's required summer reading for my school. It's good compared to Matched though. *cringe*

Atlantic Gem Jordan (The Gleek) wrote: "I think all of James Patterson's YA books are just absolute crap."

THANK YOU. A long while back (about 4 years ago) I had this group of friends, and whenever we would get togeather at church dinners, we'd go off to this one room no one ever used, and all they talked about was Maximum Ride. At that time, I had no idea what Maximum Ride even was, so I was pretty much left out of these conversations. Eventually I cracked and started reading the books. I got to about book four, then realized how cruddy it was. To this day, I still have no idea how they were obsessed with the series, but I think mostly because of Fang. :/

Also, who advertises their books on television?!

Atlantic Gem Also I forgot to mention Twilight. I made it through the first chapter before throwing the book across the room. Only time I have ever thrown a book.

Celticgirl wrote: "Also I forgot to mention Twilight. I made it through the first chapter before throwing the book across the room. Only time I have ever thrown a book."

Lolz! Same here

Paranormal_Madness I hated the House of Night series by PC Cast. The plot is as thin as it gets, the characters are all flat and one huge cliche after another, the writing is god awful, and not to mention the racist undertones, the slut-shaming, and the teen speak. The worst, hands down.

The Twilight Saga was very bad. The writing wasn't awful, but it was overly descriptive and too dramatic. I hated Bella because she was an obvious self-insert for the author, and the entire series romanticized an abusive relationship. The plot was barely there and was completely secondary to an unhealthy romance.

Born At Midnight by CC Hunter. The writing wasn't awful, but it was a little choppy. My main problems were the judgmental main character, the rampant slut-shaming, the paper-thin love interests and the horrible insta-love, and the plot that went nowhere. Nothing happens until the very last tenth of the book.

Revealing Eden by Victoria Foyt. Pretty racist, boring and judgmental main character, little to no action or plot, bad writing, faulty science, and incomplete and unbelievable world-building. The only remotely likable character is treated like a monster and an arrogant jerk.

Just out of curiousity, what did you hate about Heist Society and Life As We Knew It?

Exlibris_keagan People of Sparks

City of Ember was really good so I opened this book to see if it will carry on that major cliffhanger. People of Sparks also had a synopsis on the back too, but when I opened it, it was like a brain fart. I hated it, so I dumped the series.
