SOLVED. Boy falls in love with girl named Porcha trilogy [s]

It may be a teen novel as I read it when I was at school. The book is written in the point of view of a young man living on his own perhaps in an arty job or at college. He falls in love with a beautiful and exotic girl called porcha and chases her. I think the story may be a trilogy and ends with him actually being with a different girl who is much more down to earth etc. help! I loved this book when I was younger and dying to read it again :)

When did you read this book? Was it more of romance or did it fit in some other genre?

I read it roughly 2002. No it was more about the young mans struggles in life and then this woman comes in and adds to his struggle as he tries to get her
