Not unless you want to, Andrea.
Not unless you want to, Andrea.

Author A-Z

eta: with the A-Z challenges, can more than one of us read a letter?

Each of us has a goal that we combine into the team goal, but as a team we are still completing the tasks within the challenges together.

By 8/31, I will have to let them know who is participating. If you haven't already please check-in on the Check-In and Finished Books thread.
Good news, a player may drop out at any time until September 20th. So if you join and are struggling to get through your September goal you can drop out without hurting the team. Players can also join until September 31st, so if you decide part way through the month that you do want to participate, that's fine! :)

I will probably make a lose list of books for September soon now that we are closer to the 1st.

Yes I am good. And I have figured out how to get to our main page now:)

Executive decision time!
Since Camp GottaRead and Author Alphabet Reading Challenge seem to not have opposition, we'll go with that. If anyone has an issue with that, speak now! :D
Good news from the mods is that we can change these two challenges through September 20th, so if we find that we're struggling, we can shuffle!
In other good news, the number of BAP awarded has gone up. If we complete the challenge as laid out we will get 9/7/5 BAP for the three percentage levels. If we're struggling to fill spots by the 20th we have the option of switching to the Mango Tango Straight Percentage Challenge for 4/2/1 BAP (depending on percentage). We still have to read the same number of books, but we don't have to fit them into any category at all. I think we should shoot for the higher BAP and I'll keep an eye on what things are looking like closer to the 20th.

I think there are enough options that we won't have to claim books. I'm going to work on adding a reference to the options on the spreadsheet so that everyone can easily see what the options are.

I'll be reading all my books quickly in the beginning, I'm gonna aim for one a day through the 16th. After that, my reading is gonna decrease, but I'll make sure to hit my 19 for the month.
Since Mary is sitting out, LMK if you need any help with any thing with the challenge. I'll not be online much on the 17th and not at all on the 18th and 19th though. :)

The list on the left is for the Book a Day Challenge, the right is for Camp GottaRead. Since there are so many options I added a few categories to the Book a Day options to help people find the categories their book fits in. Anything that doesn't have a category is a situation or subject.

I probably can do a couple more than my five, 7 or 8?as a small buffer.

Ha - gotta love autocorrect. Not insecticide = pitched rocker

hahahah! :) Oh, autocorrect. My favorite is trying to type "geeze" and autocorrect gives me Herzegovina. As if I would talk about Balkan countries on a regular basis. :P

Which thread can I use to plan my books for the September challenge? If you need help with tracking I'm available (except from 21st to 29th of September).

Anyway, I can move it here if you want. Or to my personal challenge tracking thread.

Andrea, Brooke, Imke, Mary, Marianne, Nika, Riya, Sarah and Vicky.
Our goal is going to be 88 books and everyone's personal goals are listed in Post #5 of that thread as well as on the Spreadsheet.
You don't have to make it to your personal goal, but to make it easier for everyone, we should all aim for that. If you find that you're getting behind, let us know so that we can adjust for that if necessary! To help keep track of this I've added an "On Track" column to the spreadsheet. This will automatically calculate where you should be on a daily basis so you can easily see if you are ahead or behind!

I think I could also say this book fits 15 ~ a glow of light. What do you think ladies? Vicky? We don't have it (that number) yet and it seems to be sunset-like with a glowing light to the right.

Because of that, our breakdown is going to look like this:
Minimum 61 in the Book a Day Challenge
Maximum 26 for the A-Z Challenge
Maximum 12 for Camp GottaRead
By my count there are ~85 options for the Book a Day Challenge and since we can use them each twice it's definitely possible to fit 61 in there, but it might get harder with some of the less common options.
We can switch around our challenges until September 20th, so we do have that option. We may want to have a back-up in mind and we can revisit how we're looking around the 15th. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.
Brooke: I added 15 to that book. :)

If we wanted to change is, maybe find something almost as broad but with more options? Hmmmm.
Thanks for adding 15 to that one. :) I thought 15 might be a more difficult one to find, though another book I'm reading now could be considered glow-y. :)

Just a thought.

I'm double checking with the mods on the Decades challenge, just to be sure.

Level I is the least/easiest. It would consist of reading 1 book, for each year, years 2003-2009 and then 10 for 2010, 11, 12 and 13 for the respective years. This would give us a total of 53 books.
Of course, if we wanted more variety, we could go with Level VIII which is for 88 books and is read a book by it's year from 2003 (3) to 2013 (13)
-------------------------
Decades Challenge
The number of books you have to read for each of the years is the number corresponding for that year and must be published within that year.
For example:
2013 = 13 books published in 2013
2012 = 12 books published in 2012
2011 = 11 books published in 2011
etc...
LEVELS
Level I = 53 books.
Read one (1) book for decades 2003 to 2009, then the corresponding ending number for 2010 to 2013.
Level II = 61 books.
Read one (1) book for 2003 to 2008, then the corresponding ending number for 2010 to 2013.
Level III = 69 books.
Read one (1) book for 2003 to 2007, then the corresponding ending number for 2010 to 2013.
Level IV = 74 books.
Read one (1) book for 2003 to 2006, then the corresponding ending number for 2010 to 2013.
Level V = 79 books.
Read one (1) book for 2003 to 2005, then the corresponding ending number for 2010 to 2013.
Level VI = 83 books.
Read one (1) book for 2003 to 2004, then the corresponding ending number for 2010 to 2013.
Level VII = 86 books.
Read one (1) book for 2003, then the corresponding ending number to 2013.
Level VIII = 88 books.
(Original challenge.) Read three (3) books for 2003, four (4) for 2004, ect., on through the corresponding ending number to 2013.

I'll go add the years to my books too in case we switch to this.
Yes, you have the approval for 13 books in 2013, 12 books in 2012, 11 books in 2011, etc., for the Decades Challenge. Remember, however, it is the date of the original publication.
