"Simon sat listening to the rain. It pattered softly on the roof, dribbling down the spines of the thick sword-shaped leaves he and his parents had so carefully gathered . . ." So begins Simon's adventure in the Amazon rain forest, where he is vacationing and helping his botanist parents in their research. The deep darkness of night there is a little unnerving, but everything is basically going well, or so he thinks until the morning he awakes to find his parents vanished from the campsite. Suddenly he is alone in the rain forest. How will he communicate with the local people? What dangers lie in wait for him? And will he be able to rescue his parents from the evil gang that is holding them captive? Young readers will cheer on Simon as he summons all his bravery and ingenuity to try to rescue them and survive in a hostile jungle. Attack of the Jaguar is a combination of adventure story and mock training manual designed to test its heroes' - and the reader's - ability to survive extreme situations. Each chapter features a full-page illustration, quizzes, and puzzles.
The Riddle Of Bear Cave (Xtreme Adventures Inc.)
Joe and his granddad are having a holiday together in bear country in British Columbia. Joe is really looking forward to using all the tracking skills and bear knowledge his granddad has taught him, but he didn't count on getting lost, being chased by a grizzly, stumbling across a poisoned lake, and encountering the ghost of a Spirit Bear. Young readers follow Joe as he fights to survive in the bear forest, in the process testing their own observational and survival skills. Will they be able to join the Xtreme Adventure team?
The Scorpion Secret: Dare to Take the Test (Xtreme Adventures Inc.)
Each book in the interactive Xtreme Adventure series is a combination of adventure story and mock training manual designed to test its heroes' - and the reader's - ability to survive extreme situations. In this action-packed adventure, eighteen-year-old Tom and his 13-year-old stepbrother Zak aren't thrilled to be on vacation in Egypt. Tom is preoccupied by his studies and Zak is easily bored. Boredom quickly turns to excitement and danger when the two brothers are kidnapped, dumped in the desert, and trapped in a dark tomb. Will they survive their ordeal? They will if they can marshall all their skills for the task. But to do so they will have to unravel the mystery of the Goddess statue, and what is hiding inside the Scorpion Tomb. Being caught in the international intrigue of a group of smugglers trying to steal ancient treasures from the tomb, and using all their wiles to survive the sunbaked desert and befriend the locals makes for a rousing adventure for the boys - and for the reader. Each chapter features a full-page illustration, quizzes, and puzzles.
The Shark Island Mystery (Xtreme Adventure Inc.)
Two boys are kidnapped and held for ransom in Indonesia. Left on an island surrounded by sharks with no obvious way of escaping, they explore the area and find a secret cavern that is obviously the kidnappers' base. There they hatch a daring escape plan, but not before discovering some very strange shark objects. They know that they can only join the Xtreme Adventure group if they can figure out what these objects are, escape from the cavern, and apprehend their kidnappers. But the odds seem to be overwhelmingly against them.

At the beginning of each book, they welcome you to an organization. It's a survival-like group and I believe that people could join up online too.
The books are stories of survival. In one, the boy goes to the forest where his Grandpa lives. He gets lost and sees a spirit bear and a wrecked WWII bomber plane.
In another, they're trapped on an island and must survive.
I think another one is based in Egypt.
The back of the book has quizzes for the end of each chapter and tips for survival.
