I know a lot of us have already mentioned what book swapping sites we're on in the UK Author Club, but there are some people in this one that aren't in that one and I thought it would be cool if we all posted what sites we're on and what our user names are so we can link up on those sites and request books from each other.
Every time I finish one, I'll try to remember to leave a message that I'm posting it.

Ok so I'm on PaperbackSwap (my personal favorite), Bookmooch and Swaptree.

My ID on all sites is stacymarie913, I'm also on Facebook, Myspace and Twitter (same username) if anyone wants to link up on any of those as well.

Oh! If you have any CD's or DVD's you want to get rid of, you can put them on Swaptree and swap for books. PaperbackSwap has two sister sites - swapadvd and swapacd that you can put them on also and transfer your credits to PBS to get more books.

Courtney (chamilton12) | 136 comments Great idea, Stacy!

I'm on Bookmooch as beach_bum. And, I'm on Paperback Swap as beachbum12.

I, too, will try to post the books on here that I'm getting rid of. And, if you see anything I'm reading that might interest you let me know and I could reserve it for you!

Ok, I just brought back a few boxes of books that have been sitting at my mom's house for a while and they are all posted on one or all three sites. There are some chic lit books in there (among many other genres) if anyone is interested.

message 6: by Tara (new)

Tara Ok, I just mooched four more RDI books from bookmooch. All together I have 15 RDI books coming in the mail soon not counting all the ones I have received in the last week.

If you had posted this a month ago Courtney, I would've been all over it! :) I just got it from Swaptree.

What's Swaptree like? How do you like it compared to BM and PBS?

message 13: by Shanyn (new)

Shanyn (chickloveslit) I am on Swaptree - I like it because I can post my books on there that may not get ordered from Paperbackswap since there are so many copies, but someone is wanting it on Swaptree. I also have gotten a few hard to find books on Swaptree because it has matched up. You can print your postage from their site, too :)

message 14: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) | 5567 comments Mod
I think because I was a PBS member first, I'll always like that one the best. But Swaptree is pretty good. Their site runs a little slow which can be irritating and I really don't think it's as user friendly as PBS and BM but it works. I don't print postage with them because I thought there was a monthly fee. However, I've had so many requests on there (I started in late March, I think, and I've had almost 60 trades!), I'm thinking about signing up for it. I'm tired of making so many trips to the post office.
I would recommend it but just make sure you use good record keeping skills. Especially if you're on more than one trading/swapping site. I once accidentally accepted a trade on Swaptree and didn't realize I'd already given the book to some one on BM!

Yeah, I've done that too

Alicia (diva2416) | 819 comments I am on book mooch & paperback swap my name on both is diva2416. I am actually trying really hard not to hold on to as many books after I have read them (though it is very hard). I do a red dress ink on there: Milkrun by Sarah Mlynowski- it was really funny!

I of course still have 2 bookshelves full of books I haven't read. Will try and remember to post any chick lit I have on here.

message 17: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) | 5567 comments Mod
I haven't read Milkrun, but I have it. I'll look you up on both sites Alicia.

message 18: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (chamilton12) | 136 comments I just joined Swaptree. I wasn't sure I liked it at first but then someone initiated a swap with me & I love it!!!! I think the premise is that you list things to swap and then if someone wants your book/cd/dvd then they have to have something you want.

I'm really addicted to these swapping sites. It's bad! :/

message 19: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Ack - another website that didn't want my "goods" (should I call them "bads" then??) No one wanted to initiate a trade with me and I got so frustrated I deleted all the information on Swaptree.

I feel like I'm back in grade school and no one wants to play with me on the playground!

message 20: by Tara (new)

Tara I received 21 Steps to Happiness and The Younger Man today!!

You should try again Kourtney, I go through down phases with it. And they never seem to have anything on my want list so I always have to wait until some one initiates a trade with me. Just think of it this way - when no one wants to trade at the moment, you're saving money on postage. :)

I can't say that I love Swaptree, but it has definitely helped me score some very wanted books. I don't like how it doesn't say if the book is hardcover or paperback though.

Stacy (stacymarie913) | 5567 comments Mod
So I'm no longer going to be swapping on Swaptree. I don't care for the way they handle the situation when something gets lost in the mail. I sent a DVD and the person is saying they never received it. So Swaptree suspended my account and sent me a very unfriendly and threatening (mail fraud!!!) letter. They're also saying I need to either buy the DVD again and send it to the other person or offer them something else from my list. I think this is completely rediculous as it isn't my fault if the post office misplaces or loses the mail. I am not going to buy another copy of the DVD, that is insane!
So anyway - my moral to the story - if you're going to be a Swaptree user, swap at your own risk!

message 28: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (diva2416) | 819 comments Thanks for the head's up Stacy, I have swap tree account but haven't made any swaps yet. I forget to delete a book that I had gotten rid of from another website and they had all this language on how they review each cancellation and my account could be suspended depending on certain things....very odd...I may cancel. So far my bookmooch and paperback swap transactions have gone smoothy- too bad the books I REALLY want I am in a huge wait list for.

message 29: by Dawn (new)

Dawn rizzi (dawnie278) | 378 comments yeah they gave me a slap on the wrist too when i forgot to delete something i traded somewhere else.

message 30: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) | 5567 comments Mod
Yup, I've gotten that too. They seem to take the whole thing WAY too seriously!

I think one book that I'm on a wait list for in PBS has an estimated wait period of 91 weeks!! No joke!

message 31: by Dawn (new)

Dawn rizzi (dawnie278) | 378 comments 91 WEEKS WOW I THINK YOU SHOULD SUCK IT UP AND BUY IT LOL

message 34: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Oh no Stacy! Are you giving up on your obsession or has your obsession taken over to where you have to declutter?

message 35: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) | 5567 comments Mod
My obsession has taken over and I need to declutter. I added a bunch of books while at work yesterday, then when I got home and started pulling all of those out, I pulled out even more. I think I probably pulled at least 30 books! I'm trying really hard to crack down on my obsession because I had literally run out of room! Now I have made some room for the fifteen or so books that are in the mail as I type...

message 36: by Dawn (new)

Dawn rizzi (dawnie278) | 378 comments don't forget save mine stacy. lol I am in declutter mode myself these days.

message 41: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Personally, I think Sarah Mlynowski is one of the best authors RDI had (I said ONE of!) I loved each book she wrote and thought Monkey Business was great. The thing with that book though is there are many characters so you have to stay on top of reading it to keep track of who did what and why. So read that book when you have some time on your hands! But I felt it was worth it.

Kristine - how did you like it?

I agree Kourtney! I've only read a couple of hers so far but I loved them!

message 43: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (chamilton12) | 136 comments Her YA books are good, too. I read Bras & Broomsticks and it was really cute. I'm waiting on Frogs & French Kisses on PBS.

message 44: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (diva2416) | 819 comments I love her. I have read all her YA books and 3 of her adult books. Monkey Business is waiting for me on my bookshelf.

message 46: by Kristine (new)

Kristine (kc0217) | 335 comments I really liked it. It was the second book I have read, I've also read Milkrun. I agree with you Kourtney, there were too many characters to follow. I really liked Jamie. At the end, I wanted to know what became of everyone.

I know it's not a swapping site but I just got wind of another cheap used books site. I'm sure somebody has probably already heard of it but it was new to me.

www.thriftbooks.com

They have stuff on there really cheap! I haven't ordered yet (amazing, I know) so I don't know what shipping is, but I've been browsing...

message 50: by Dawn (new)
