Some lucky people are enjoying their summer holidays! The rest of us will have to live vicariously through some Summer Reads

Thanks, JuliaC, for the pick :D

Limiting myself to the first 10 pages of shelf, what I've already marked to read, and actually owned physical copy, I've 4 choices:

1. Reconstructing Amelia (POTS picked!)
2. Life After Life (really need to get onto this)
3. What Alice Forgot
4. The Shining Girls

Will be moving house in August so not a good idea to borrow books from the library and my August reading schedule is already overflowing but I'm confident I'd, at least read #1 :)

D.G. | 1370 comments Not sure what I'll read...most likely Dare You To (Pushing the Limits, #2) by Katie McGarry or Chain Reaction (Perfect Chemistry, #3) by Simone Elkeles .

I'll be traveling a lot so I won't be able to read as much as I usually do. :)

Julia (juliace) I'm off to look for an avitar (and a book from the shelf!!)

Julia (juliace) I already have The Book Thief by Markus Zusak so I'm going to get a jump start on the now; but I'm als going to order The Fault in Our Stars by John Green & My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick from the library.

Life After Life is the most thought provoking, and probably best, book I've read in a long time. Certainly the best of 2013 so far.

So many good books on this list. The following fit challenges, so hopefully I will get one in:

Divergent
A Game of Thrones
The Shining Girls
The Last Song

LynnB | 1769 comments Lots of books to choose from. I'm not sure what all I'll read, but I'm going to start with The Light Between Oceans.

ooh, great book. It really drew me and one of those books where you're sympathising with everyone despite their actions. Not a light read though easy (language wise).

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1224 comments I will probably read Whiskey Beach by Nora Roberts or Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers #1) by Sarah MacLean . These are the only two unread books that I have from this shelf - I guess I'm not that big on summer reads.

Sarah | 286 comments The Lord of the Rings is on this shelf too, which is good... if I don't finish it this month it will still count next month!

Niamh | 61 comments Still going on the July shelf A Game of Thrones one but hope to have that finished soon.
Then for this month, I will slog away at the library book Fifty Shades of Grey. I'm just glad I didn't buy that one. lol.
And one that I have been meaning to read for a while, never having seen the movie... The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants which I'm guessing I will have read long before I ever get to finish the EL James book.

I'm going to read The Light Between Oceans too. It's one I already have on my Kindle.

Krait | 58 comments Been too long since I've read Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, so my 30 year old paperback copy is getting dug up :-)

I'm definitely not ready for August. Somehow, 1500 pages in a single book seems to take a lot longer than 5 different books of 300 pages each, so I'm still working on A Suitable Boy. I'm looking forward to getting back to normal-sized books again.

I'll definitely read Legend -- just loaned it to my visiting niece, and she really liked it. And it's on my POTs list.

And I've been trying to get to Shatter Me for several months, so that should be a near-definite.

I'm not sure beyond that, since I'll have 2 other POTS books to read as well, and I haven't even looked at Tien's new game yet.

I'm surprised you didn't find more books! I thought there were all sorts of genres in that shelf.

So many of the books on the first few pages are YA and I don't read much in that genre. I've also read many of the ones that aren't YA like Dan Brown's Langdon books, P&P and some of the other classics.

I will read The Picture of Dorian Gray.

message 21: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliace) I have the following books ordered from the library

A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter If I Stay (If I Stay, #1) by Gayle Forman and Unbreak My Heart by Melissa C. Walker

I know I won't be able to read all of these, but at least I'll have a variety to chose from if something doesn't hold my interest.
