1) there is a place in the world where sitting around all day in cat ears is feels natural.
2) it is no good having a stall, making money if you blow it all on stuff you buy from other dealers. cool stuff but like gundans
3) 12 foot high despicable me minions are cool.
4) Pillows with manga girls on are far to peopler.
5) people get very excited over meeting minor torchwood characters.
I'll eventually get to a convention, but it isn't likely for a while. But this was helpful. I can't wait to actually go to one!
I go to Otakon almost every year and have also been to Anime Boston a few times. I don't cosplay but it's really cool to see all those who do. And with thousands of people at those cons and around half in costume you don't feel out of place either way.
Years ago it was easier to find certain anime/manga at cons, but online retailers have really cut down that edge. Now when I shop at cons I'm more looking for unique / scarce collectible type stuff or hanging out in artists' alley checking out posters, etc.

the artist alley are always a mixed bag, some time they have really go stuff and quite cheep, others time they charge the earth for high school art project. ;)

so dose any one else here go to conventions, if so do you cosplay do you just look around trying to look normal? do you find it easier to pick up wired/rearer manga or stuff small press turn out? has any ever been to Tokyo comic con.
