Dustin wrote: "Amazing, amazing piece of work!!"oh Dustin.... glad you liked it, now I am even more excited about reading it...
I hope there isn't a test afterwards. I missed five out of ten trivia questions on "slaughterhouse 5" just a few weeks after reading it.

are you going to read in Cold blood with us
Naw, many thanks for asking but among several other books , I just started a supa Debut novel calledTell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt. Also, I'm thinking I did read in In Cold Blood several years back as a kitten. Lol... I'd like to read Breakfast at Tiffany's by Capote sometime, however. I've had the movie forever, but I just can't imagine the book being anything like it though!

Good deal Denisa. Once you get it and look it over we can decide how we'll go about dividing the book up for reading.

Dustin wrote: "I hope you guys enjoy the buddy read!:)"me too Dustin... wish you hadn't already read it so you could join us...
Cool! I have no idea, this is the first time I've done this. My version of the book is 342 pages, no chapters just sections. The first section looks to be around 74 pages, we can start with that and adjust the schedule however we need to.We both check in frequently so I don't think we'll have any complications with getting through the book together.

I think we will do great and we do both check in often so... it will be great..

I love them, too! They're so much fun, and I take great pleasure in discussing books!

I don't know how detailed you want to get with the discussion but here are just some things that jumped out at me. I like the set up of the first part. Initially I felt Capote was being a little too sensational for my tastes in describing how "good" the Clutter family was but the description of the crime at the end of part one pulled it all together for me.(view spoiler)
Loved Sadie Truitt's feisty personality to end part one.

I agree! I've had a problem finishing the last three or four books I've started but this one looks pretty good. The pacing and set up makes for an enjoyable read.

Initially I felt Capote was being a little to..."Well I didn't think the Cutter family was that Too good family. If you consider his wife... having mental issues and he seems to really have a hand on his kids not allowing them to do very much. The oldest daughter is the only one that seems too perfect to me. I did think he added some flavor to the characters. I like how Mr. Cutter refused to have cash in pocket but chose the other method to pay for things.
I rather like his peculiar wife. The depression and the strange way she talked to the little girl visiting.. It almost seemed like she would be spared because she was so strange. I wish there had been more about the boy.
I hadn't thought about the fact that if her dad had allowed her to go the night she would have lived.
I did grin at the thought of the insurance salesman.
I haven't ever seen the movie so you are one up on me.
I also liked how the actual book started out before it happened instead of after and then they piece it together. I am wondering about Perry and Dick... I am wanting to know for sure which one had and wanted the family executed.
Let's finish the whole thing by midnight! You tell me, I'll start reading the next section until I hear from you. If you want to read more or less at one time, let me know.
I'm enjoying everyone's comments very much. Really insightful! Keep up the great discussion, and have fun with it!

Denisa, I'll order the book today as well and keep you updated.
