Raafi Mohammed | 8 comments It is about a woman who writes a column anonymously in a local newspaper and also works as a waitress in a salon. Her fiance dumps her and she moves to this new town and finds love in the bar owner.

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments Is this an adult novel? How long ago did you read it? And, does she the newspaper column play a huge part in the plot (her fiance dumps her for it, as an example)?

Not quite what you're looking for but Chloe Does Yale: A Novel Chloe Does Yale A Novel by Natalie Krinsky

Raafi Mohammed | 8 comments @Tab: no it is absolutely not an adult novel. i read it a year back. but it is an old book. must have been written atleast 50-60 yrs back.

message 5: by Raafi (new)

Raafi Mohammed | 8 comments its something like this.
1. her fiance comes to a town A and falls in love with a new woman who owns a bakery.
2. she comes to a town A looking for him and finds out the harsh truth.
3. she decides to stay there and not go back to her own town.
4. she finds two jobs there, a) an anonymous columnist in a local newspaper who addresses the reader's problems by mail
b)a waitress at a local bar.
5. she falls for the bar owner and marries him in the end.

the title contains the pen name she uses for the column

Cheryl (cherylllr) I think you misunderstood Tab. The question is not 'is it erotica' but rather 'is it written for adults?'

Because the plot you describe could be written for teens, which would make it a YA novel.

To me it sounds like one of those delightful general fiction books my aunt would have read when I was young. It even sounds just a tiny bit familiar.

Well, I guess you'll have to bump this thread every month or two until someone recognizes it. And if you do remember or find it, please come back and let us know!

bb. (magnumopus) | 91 comments This is definitely not your book but it might interest you because it has a somewhat similar plot: The First Husband by Laura Dave.

Raafi Mohammed | 8 comments Lobstergirl, yes I am!! I haven't found it yet.
I try to give up, but whenever someone mentions a book, this comes back to the front of my mind and eats me up. :/

Cheryl (cherylllr) Here's a free bump for autumn. Come back in a few months and simply reply with any comment to bump it again, ok? Otherwise we might sadly conclude you have abandoned the quest.
