Still on Keep the Aspidistra Flying (kindle). Trying to decide for audio between Middlemarch and Daniel Deronda. And THEN decide which performance/narrator to choose!
I've just joined the group, so I'm not sure of the best place to put this. Reading in one of the threads, I saw a link to a 2013 read along of In Search of Lost Time, which inspired me to search and then find a similar group for 2014. If any one else is interested... https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
Invisible Cities - Calvino....another strange adventure from this marvelously creative author.

Am about 50 pages into The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. So far that has mainly been made up of the Introduction so too early to say if enjoying it.
Starting on audio, Middlemarch. Now between Kindle and audio I'm reading the last 2 books to make a goal by year's end. I think I'm on track. :o)
I had three Salman Rushdie books I'd picked up and asked the bookish people on my Twittersphere which to start with (I've never read Rushdie before) and ended up with a whole different title from a friend that I ended up getting on ebook. The Ground Beneath Her Feet is the one I ended up with.
Kathy wrote: "Mandy, I am currently reading The Turn of the Screw too."I really struggled to get going the first time which seems silly given that it is so short! Must be a mood thing as I am almost finished.
Mandy wrote: "Kathy wrote: "Mandy, I am currently reading [book:The Turn of the ScrewI find his writing style a bit convoluted. He uses " he","she", "him" so much that I am a bit confused on who he means. The story is worth wading through the muck though!
I just started Schooling by Heather McGowan last night. Not sure about this one, it is a stream of consciousness which is just not my thing.
Kathy wrote: "Re-reading Dracula by Bram Stoker. It has been a while."I'm reading it at the moment! Enjoying it and it's definitely a welcome read as I'm also tackling Don Quixote.
Re-reading Gone With The Wind. Again. A thoroughly enjoyable re-read to close out the year, and my book club will be discussing in January.

My sister is named Tara because it was my mom's favorite book. She died this past year, and her birthday is in two weeks. I should read it. I've heard only great things. And my husband loves the movie.

I DEFINITELY recommend it highly. And it would be great to read and think of your mom.
Just started George Orwell's 1984 or perhaps more correctly restarted as I read this many years ago as a teenager but decided to re-read now I've got a few grey hairs.
The Black Dahlia by James Ellroy (audiobook) - I've started this several times & I think this time I'm going to finish it.
