ABANDONED. Regency Romance - heroine is plump and develops friendship with handsome Lord that is courting her cousin.

Do you remember how they referred to the character's weight in the book? Did they call her plump, overweight, etc?

I should add that I have spent a lot of time looking online (days worth of time) and so my hope is that someone else with a better memory than mine will remember having read it.
What I really enjoyed about the book was the great rapport and frank friendship that grew between she and the handsome lord. I remember he was considered somewhat of a rake- that might have been part of the attraction for her cousin to him.
THANK you so much for taking an interest in my search!!

Do you remember the cover? Was it part of a series?

It was not part of a series, I have a vague recollection of flowers on the cover- maybe pink flowers?
I can give a little bit more about the plot... She comes to London with her cousin and isn't looking for love herself because she is already engaged- had been promised since childhood or birth. She is a wallflower and unfashionably plump but she converses easily with others as she has a frank, open, and friendly demeanor. Her cousin was beautiful, vain, and I think a bit of a thrill seeker- being attracted to the rakish Lord. I know he was attracted to her cousin and I think she catches them kissing toward the beginning of the book. She and the Lord strike up a friendship and her feelings toward him grow. **spoiler alert**... toward the end of the book she becomes very ill at a ball and is taken home to the country to recover. She loses all her extra weight during her illness. The Lord misses her and is concerned about her and comes to see her. I think he notices she is pale, and is surprised by how different she looks- but isn't immediately attracted to her new looks- rather realizes his attraction to who she is. I remember toward the end she is in an open carriage with her fiancé (who is a good friend, but to whom she doesn't have feelings, nor does he feel amorous toward her) I think he encourages her to follow her own heart.
THanks again!!

No Regrets isn't it- but you came close!
I looked over lists of SIGNET and ZEBRA regency books last night for 5 hours- but no luck.
I'm not giving up though- and I'm grateful for your support and help!!
Jenny--the whole point of this group is to support each other as we search for that forgotten love. I myself hold out hope on a few that I've been searching for for year. Sooner or later SOMEONE will recognize them, then I will be reunited with them. (And yes, I DO think books are loved ones.)

And Kate, thanks for the suggestion, the book sounds very good- just up my alley!
It's very funny Jenny. I loved it, and wondered why the heck the so called "reality" shows on TV aren't that interesting.

OK, don't know about Jenny--but that just looks too screamingly funny to pass up. Thank heavens for Amazon, right? (If you want a copy Jenny, they are available for .01 and 3.99 shipping--so probably about what the cover price was.)

I haven't given up on my search, but I am excited to try this one :-) Thanks Barbara!

Still searching for my book and have started looking at bulk regency book lots on Ebay in the hopes of coming across it.

I read this book about 10 years ago- it was a library book, so I'm not sure of it's published year.
Don't remember author or title.
The heroine is already engaged to a man that she is not in love with, but they are on good friendly terms (his name might be Freddy). Because she is overweight, she doesn't think the handsome Lord will be interested in her. She is very forthright. Her cousin is beautiful and spoiled and wants to marry the Lord.
Toward the end of the book the heroine becomes ill and loses her weight- finds out her weight was due to a food allergy or something.
