Ctgt | 629 comments I'm on the library wait list for Book of Swords so I can join in when it drops.

message 1452: by Bill (new)

Bill | 1596 comments Rob, can you change the Dangerous Women folder to anthologies or something like that and I’ll add the book of swords story threads there.

Sure

Anyone else planning to read Artemis on 11/14?

message 1455: by Geoff (new)

Geoff (geoffgreer) Oathbringer also comes out that day and takes priority for me.

message 1456: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
I'll be reading Oathbringer as well, but I'll probably listen to Artemis at the same time.

message 1457: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments I'll be listening to Artemis. I'm probably (gasp) waiting to read Oathbringer.

message 1458: by Bill (last edited Oct 21, 2017 07:43AM) (new)

Bill | 1596 comments Deadhouse Landing out that day too so will be doing that.

message 1459: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments I'm out, I'm catching up on stuff I've still listed as "currently reading" and haven't touched in days.

Next will be something from my TBR, I'm trying to cut back on buying books for a while.

message 1460: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay | 546 comments Surely you'd be better off cutting back on less essential things like food and accommodation?! :D

message 1461: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments That's true, that's true.

But I'm saving for a car! And my TBR has amazing things in it.

Also, I won't last a week without buying more books, you know me.

message 1462: by Christina (new)

Christina Pilkington | 126 comments I have Artemis on hold from the library, so it probably won't be exactly on release date. But soon afterwards I hope! And also...Oathbringer.

message 1463: by Richard (new)

Richard Eyres (richardeyres) I will be waiting on Oathbringer for a while. Forgot most of the story so far, so may wait until the next book is out, and do a big re-read.
Artemis is on my radar, but will probably wait a little.

I have plenty on the go at the moment (along with all the new Star Wars releases), but am up for the others in the list (most on pre-order).

message 1464: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (emolivarez) | 6 comments So feel free to delete if this is already a thing but would anyone want to do a group read of The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance before Oathbringer? I've been wanting to do a re read because it's been so long since I've read them.

message 1465: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
I don't have enough time to do that unfortunately. The science fiction and fantasy group is doing a read/reread though.

message 1466: by Geoff (new)

Geoff (geoffgreer) I did a reread in May/June. Worth it, but much too soon to pick them back up.

Check out the Tor.com reread series. Its a great recap/analysis of the series.

message 1467: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (emolivarez) | 6 comments I didn't think of the TOR recap, thanks. Maybe I'll just check that out because I know when Oathbringer is here I'll be too excited to actually finish rereading those massive books and will want to jump in immediately.

message 1468: by Geoff (new)

Geoff (geoffgreer) They do a great job on Tor. And the reread is very extensive.

L.Watch wrote: "I think we should all read Oathbringer when it comes out, for now let's read The Waking Fire by Anthony Ryan"

You're in luck as we're already planning on reading Oathbringer when it comes out. A few of us read/discussed read Waking Fire previously. However we did it in a single spoiler-filled thread.

If you want to jump into that it's here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

In doing the secret Santa I noticed several shelved Three Parts Dead. I was thinking we should do a group read instead. Maybe in late February/early January?

I own all 5 books of the series cuz they were really cheap earlier this year and I'm a sucker for sales.

Who's interested?

message 1471: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments I might be, but as usual I have soooo many books to read!

message 1472: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments I'm interested - I've had them awhile now and yes - haven't read yet.

message 1473: by Sumant (new)

Sumant | 522 comments Wanting to read that series since long time. I am in.

Any interest in the Secret Santa this year Sumant?

We're doing a secret santa thing again this year. I believe you participated last year.

OK. Sounds like we have enough interest. Any preference on when?

Jan is good for me, have started City of Stairs but can finish it by then.

Apparently, Points of Impact is out next week. I had no idea. My priority is The Infernal Battalion, but I'll probably read it after.

Anyone else planning to read it?

message 1484: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments I'm planning on it, but same situation-it'll be after the Wexler book.

message 1485: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay | 546 comments I'm planning on reading it. Probably late in January, but if the group reads it earlier I can move that up.

message 1486: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
How about Friday January 19th? I'm going to start it pretty much when I finish Infernal Battalion, but it should be pretty close to the 19th I think.

message 1487: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay | 546 comments Excellent.

message 1488: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
FYI, I'm not sure if this is everywhere, but the Kindle book is only $5 for pre-order and you can add the audio for another $2, so that's a $7 audio book as far as I'm concerned.

message 1489: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
Why are all the books coming out this month? Apparently Iron Gold comes out on Tuesday 1/16/18.

At this rate I'm going to have spent all my yearly audible credits in the first 3 months :(

We already have 2 other reads scheduled, but I'll probably pick that one up once I finish Points of Impact.

Is anyone else planning on getting it?

message 1490: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Yes, I preordered it. I've been planning on reading it after the Kloos book.

message 1491: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay | 546 comments Yes, me too.

message 1492: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
OK, so that's a pretty short book, maybe 1/26? That's a week after we're set to start Kloos.

The Kloos book is pretty short (<9 hours), which means it will probably take me roughly 3-4 days to listen to, so if I start it on the 19th, I'd be ready for for Iron Gold much sooner than the 26th.

I'm probably overthinking this..what do you guys think we should do?

message 1493: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments That sounds good to me!

message 1494: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay | 546 comments Probably Feb 1st for me.

message 1495: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
I can probably wait until February. I'd just need to find a book I can listen to in between.

message 1496: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay | 546 comments A few days either way shouldn’t matter. Particularly considering I’ll probably read this in a day or so :)

message 1497: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
Haha. Yeah, you read way faster than me. You'll probably finish before me.

Anyone else planning to read The Armored Saint in February?

message 1499: by Mark (new)

Mark | 482 comments it's on my to buy list.

message 1500: by Ctgt (new)

Ctgt | 629 comments Yes, depending on when it shows up at the library...already have my hold in place.
