Ok, so E for Lindy and W for Gea. I'll take whatever is left once Jenn has picked since I have books for both of the remaining letters and no strong preference among them. :)

message 68: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 256 comments Denise go ahead and pick your book. I don't get home til Sunday and I don't want to hold you all up. I will make whatever letter is left work for me.

message 69: by Gea (new)

Gea (gea89) How's everyone liking their books? I love mine and I'll have it finished by evening. Should I post the review today or wait a bit in case someone is still searching for W book? I don't mind if someone "borrows" it but don't know what others think about it.

I haven't even picked mine yet. XD I'm in a bit of a rush to finish up my July challenges, so I won't get around to starting this week's book until Tuesday or Wednesday - but I read about a book a day, so no worries. :)

It's still very early in the game and I think this week's words weren't that hard to find, so I'd say go ahead and post it when you're done. :)

Gea (gea89) Week 2: VIEW
Letter: W
In Rides Trouble (Black Knights, Inc., #2) by Julie Ann Walker
Book: In Rides Trouble by Julie Ann Walker
Rating: ★★★★★
Review:
I liked this book much more than the first one. It was a quick, enjoyable read with a bit of misunderstanding going on for most of the book but it was nicely resolved and didn't affect the final rating. I'm excited to read the next book from series, much more than I was excited for this one.

WoW (view): He had a crystal clear view of the back of the extra-long couch and two heads tilted very close together. (page 143)
Bonus word (football): Four red flares suddenly streaked from the tanker’s bridge, turning the bright sky above the football field-sized ship an angry orange. (page 34)
Total Points: 6

I usually have the habit of reading books for team challenges as soon as possible, so that I don't forget about them. It's nice that this challenge isn't about speed so you can take as much time as you need :)

message 73: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 256 comments Denise, just going thru my kindle app I found books for both letters, so if you wanna let me know which you prefer I'll take whatever letter is left over.

Week 2: View
My Letter: I

Into the Shadows (Into the Shadows, #1) by Karly Kirkpatrick Into the Shadows by Karly Kirkpatrick
Finished: 01 August 2013
Rating: ★★★★

Review:
Dystopia meets superpowers in this first book of the Into the Shadows trilogy. It starts out rather slow and took me a while to get into, but in the second half the pace really picks up. The parallels between this increasingly dystopian society and Nazi Germany really creeped me out and despite the fact that the writing style could use some work (too much telling rather than showing, and the dialogues sometimes just didn't sound like "normal" conversations) I found myself drawn into the story and very much wanting to know how it continues.

Bonus Items:
View: "...sight of the uppermost level came into view..." (Kindle version: Location 659)
Football: "...a very serious conversation over which football player at the next table was the hottest..." (Kindle version: Location 1575)

My Letter: V

Verity (Cursed, #1) by Claire Farrell
Verity by Claire Farrell
Finished August 1, 2013
Rating: ★★★

Review: I didn't really like the book when I started it. Perdy the main character didn't seem to have any real personality and lacked backbone. She kind of grew on me by the end of the book, but still it would have been good if she had more of a personality. The author puts a lot of details into the other characters but we don't really have a sense of who Perdy is. She also has a certain friend turn on her for absolutely no reason. She was friends with this person her whole life and there is never really a good reason for the friendship to end. I did already start on the second book and will most likely finish out the series.

Bonus items:
View: p. 6 "My focus and point of view alter completely"

football: p. 58 "Good luck with the football, Nathan"

Jennifer, congrats on your engagement! :D And yep, I've turned last week's points in.

I have books with both bonuses for all letters, so you guys go ahead and pick. :)

message 93: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) | 375 comments i only have 28 books out of the library, cant' afford to buy books on social security

message 94: by Denise, Manufacturing Director (new)

Denise (destiny_chan) | 7439 comments Mod
Lindy, A Christmas Promise won't work because the article "a" doesn't count. Marley and Me would work, but you wouldn't get the Word of the Week bonus with it - it has to be "jail". So it would be great if you can get something else from the library with both bonus words, the rest of us can wait until tomorrow to choose our letters. :)

message 95: by Gea (new)

Gea (gea89) I was just typing that Denise when you posted it :)

message 96: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) | 375 comments Ho about Chbosky , Stephen The perks of being a wallflower has jail and chicken salad

message 97: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 256 comments Lindy that wouldnt work because neither the author or the title starts with j, a, i, or l. do you like chuck palaniuk or james patterson? i have a book for each of them that would work for i or j and you could take one and ill take the other.

message 98: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) | 375 comments no j a i orl intheat, i will keep looking

message 99: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 256 comments How about some of the cooking mysteries? Like Diane Mott Davidson or Joanna Fluke. I'm sure between them being crime mysteries and food, they are bound to have chicken and jail in some of them.

message 100: by Jenn (last edited Aug 02, 2013 04:02PM) (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 256 comments Lindy I'm going to personal message you a list of books that I found that have both bonuses and what letter they work for. That way it might be easier for you when you go to the library tomorrow.

Do you have an ereader of any type? or the ereader app on your computer?
