Crystal Gardens by Amanda Quick
Finished: 9/11
Rating: ♥♥♥♥
Quit: Paul quit Lucas's service (pg. 248)
Pie: astonishing salmon-and-leek pie (pg. 366)
Crystal Gardens is the first in a new trilogy by Amanda Quick called the Ladies of Lantern Street. It's a historical romance laced with paranormal elements. Quick delivers an action packed novel with characters that I quickly came to love. Filled with suspense, mystery, paranormal ability and a swoon worthy hero I was quickly swept up in the story. I look forward to reading more in the series.

Quit: Marly noted the 'were', but decided to quit while she was ahead.(Page 79)
Pie: Jase returned to the office, greeted by a meat pie......(Page 105)
Review: Under a Texas Star was a fun read but it was a little long winded to me. I felt like a good portion of it was just too reptitious and the book could have been far shorter and more enjoyable. The biggest portion of the story just kept mentioning the fact that Marly was a girl pretending to be a boy. I'm like sheesh we learned that from the synopsis?

Review: I had to read this book for an online book club that I'm in, so I was so glad that it fit this challenge! I've read only one or two other books by Gardner and this one made me wonder why I haven't read more. This was a suspenseful read that had me guessing till the end.

Book: Delectable (Big Sky Pie #1) by Adrianne Lee
Date Read: 9/13/13
Rating: 4 stars
Review: A wonderful book and great start to a new series. Love, romance, family, friends, heartache and loss along with laughter tears and unexpected happiness. Great happily ever after. At the end of the book was the signature pie of the Cafe and an excerpt from book 2 in the series - Delicious. Can't wait to read it and other books by Lee, a new to me author.
WOW and Bonus word:
Wide: But something about the crisp Montana air and the wide open spaces gave him heart. (Nook page 12)
Attorney/Lawyer: She reached for the phone to call her lawyer, ... (Nook page 153)

Wide: He made a wide path (pg. 50)
Lawyer: My lawyers will handle (pg. 16)
I loved this book, it was hilarious. Definitely not what you're expecting, but then with a title like this, who knows what you you're expecting! Tucker Case is one of the most charismatic characters I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Drinking, sex, and finding out we actually taste like spam make this a great read. Absolutely hilarious and a quick read!!

Wide: He leans forward and watches with wide eyes.(Page 11)
Lawyer/Attorney: I do know a few big city lawyers who get their rocks off suing cops...(Page 184)
Review: Really quick read! The first book in a "new to me" series and I can't wait to grab up the next one! Had a few gruesome spots but still was highly enjoyable and exciting especially with a partner who cant quit eating, a scum ex boyfriend and two clueless FBI agents.
"Jack" Daniels was a quirky fun character who kinda puts me to mind of Stephanie Plum who I adore.

E verything I Never Wanted to Be by Dina Kucera
Read:9/14
Rating: 4 stars
Review: This book was free on my kindle. In this memoir the author Dina Kucera recounts her family's struggle with alcohol and drug abuse. It was sad to read at times. Being a mother myself, I hope to never have to go through what she has gone through with her three children. However, it's inspiring too. She was able to overcome a rough childhood herself and despite the struggles with her family she shows compassion and love.
WOTW: Wide (location 559) "It was a single wide, with wooden steps, parked on a huge lot of dirt."
BONUS: lawyer/attorney (location 1971) "They talked about their father the doctor or their mother the lawyer."

It was a fun round, great playing with all of you. Tied for third - not bad at all!
