I read a book back in 1987 that was about 2 kids who could turn certain ways (Ana, Kanta??) to take them into another dimension. They became see through on one of the trips and were kept in a cage by a giant. It is a children's or YA book. Please, please, help me find this book. I am going insane!!!

I think the boy might have been Russian. New to the neighborhood and was befriended by the girl next door.

That may very well be it.
It was published in 1986.
Thank you!

It probably is. The book does use the terms Ana and Kata and the kids are trapped by a higher dimension creature at one point. Do you remember a bit about how good "reversed" ketchup tastes? If so, it's definitely "The Boy Who Reversed Himself"

Erin--after you find a copy of the book and confirm or disprove that it's yours, please come back and let us all know.

Cheryl (cherylllr) I've read the book myself and remember the cage bit, and the 'see through' aspect, and the new foreign boy / girl next door. Moving to Possibly Solved...

Hi Cheryl. I couldn't help notice you are from Carson! I lived there from 1988-1997. I went to Eagle Valley JH and Carson High! Small world! In fact I read the book in the EVJH library.

Cheryl (cherylllr) And I moved here in '96. Small world indeed.
