SOLVED. Children's book about cat w/ many lives [s]

This was a picture book i read a long time ago. It was about a cat who would always get reborn when he died and at the end he finally dies for real when he is loved by another cat. Please help thanks.

Unfortunately, he has everything set to private so we can't send him an email about checking the thread. And a lot of people's email programs see GR as being "spam" so they don't ever notice the emails telling that they have had a reply.

But still--it's only been 5 days--maybe he'll come back in soon.

Btw, I have read both books suggested. I would be willing to bet it's the Japanese book. We can move it to Possibly Solved whenever another mod reads this comment, imo.
