http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0...Rick Stein's autobiography Under a Mackerel Sky is 99p today. Could be interesting.
And also Rick Stein's India if you're interested.

If you fancy reading The Light Years by Elizabeth Jane Howard that's 95p today. I haven't read them yet, it's the first of the Cazalet Chronicle series. I'm not sure if its the same Cazalet series I caught part of on Radio 4, but from what I heard it sounded pretty good, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. The fourth book is also £1.29.

I searched 'literary fiction' on the kindle store which is what yielded the above, also an interesting selection of other books. Rules for Virgins by Amy Tan is FREE today, although its just an extract from The Valley of Amazement - I thought it worth giving a go, a cheapskate way to sample an author I haven't read before!

Ooh Gill no! I can't read a series out of order!!! I think the 2nd & 3rd books are around the £2/£3 mark, so not massively expensive, although I am very tight with my cash & try not to spend more than a pound or two if I can help it!!
Elizabeth wrote: "Gok's Wok is a bargain 49p today. Just bought :)Link here http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0..."
Me too, perhaps we should do a 'buddy cook-along' with a recipe some time this month?!

Gill, that is what I am doing - I also have 1 and 4, waitng for 2 and 3 to price drop and number 5 is issued soon, if it hasn't already been!

Chatterjak - I have finally grabbed all of those, I think, worth sitting it out for the price drops!

That sounds an interesting idea. Perhaps we should!
One of the Rachel Allen books is also 49p for Kindke today though I can't imagine cooking from my kindle!!!! I would have to print it off. And how do you browse???
Hmm, hadn't thought of that Jo! For 49p I was willing to give it a try though! Wouldn't be my usual ideal format for a cookery book though!
Sorry to share something a bit gross & off topic-ish, I've just started having a 'browse' (I don't think you actually can browse in the traditional sense Jo, hmm) & come across a quote that both resonated with me & made me laugh"I once ate a bowl of noodles so quickly I sneezed an entire string. I knew from that moment that I had to start eating healthier."
I can't stop laughing. It also makes me feel better as that hasn't happened to me (yet)!
If there's anyone out there who still hasn't read The Hunger Games, but who wants to, today's your lucky day. The trilogy is the Kindle Daily Deal today (UK Amazon) - £2.29 for all three books. Bargain.http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Hunger-Ga...
I wasn't planning to read them, but at £2.29 it would be a shame not to buy them! So Hunger Games have now joined the to-be-read queue (with a ticket number 30, so it will be a while yet before I get to them...).
Agata - I picked them up for £2.29, almost nothing to lose.
Not an ebook, but I got an email just now from Audible.com for a free download of the audiobook of The Luminaries. It seems to have been sent to people who have previously bought a Booker Prize Winner from Amazon (or audible presumably). And it's done on an individual "redemption code" basis so I can't forward on a relevant link because it won't work unfortunately but do look out for the email.

Hello - Just to let you know that 'Perfect' by Rachel Joyce and 'Life after Life' by Kate Atkinson are 99p on Kindle right now....sorry I can't do the links.
Oh I wish you hadn't said that Clare :D I had to buy Life After Life, and The Storyteller. Didn't want Perfect, though. My husband thinks my book-buying is getting seriously out of hand. He suggested I try catching up with the books I've already got before buying any more. But you can't not pick up a bargain, can you?
Besides, he wants the Kate Atkinson too, so that's my excuse for buying that one!
Plus The Spinning Heart is 99p
And The Dance of the Seagull by Andrea Camilleri
Assume some sort of a sale is on, I had a load of other price drops too, but at much higher prices
I also snapped up Life After Life!

http://uk.ereaderiq.com/deals/Here's a link to Ereader IQ, where they list all the price drops on Amazon.
I can never find them on my Kindle itself, but I go to the kindle store (using the iPad) - only three daily deals ever come up on my kindle, but there's lots more when you go to the web site - I usually then search either 'daily deal' and/or literary fiction - although they have a somewhat loose definition of this! It does throw out some interesting deals though - And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini is being advertised for 99p today - this is on the UK site though so it may not be the same in the USA. That said, I've tried to download it twice but it won't - but that may be my credit card rather than their error!! Oops!

Have you just bought that one? :-)
I did get three new books out the library including Marina

No I didn't buy that one. Just saw it was reduced. I bought The Spinning Heart, for a re-read, though. Three books today I think is enough :)
Ha ha, Elizabeth! My husband says exactly the same about me, but for that price, how could you resist? They'll probably go back up to their original price in a day or so....and it's not as if they are taking up any room on my bookshelves... See, I am still trying to justify myself ;-)

I'd recommend this book, thought it was a good read.
More kindle bargains today. Here's two of the best - The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
and
Big Brother by Lionel Shriver
I've read The Song of Achilles, which I thought was very good.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Goldfinch...The Goldfinch is £4.99 on Amazon Kindle today. A big price drop. Tempting, but I may still wait for it to come out in paperback.
Ooh, don't tempt me Elizabeth! Pondering whether to break my budget & use Xmas present to myself as an excuse! Hmm, will think on it. I wish they'd stop advertising 'the eye collector' on there - it turns my stomach every time I see it!
The Story of English: How the English Language Conquered the World by Philip Gooden is 77p today, on kindle store.
Today I bought:
The Eagle Of The Ninth Chronicles by Rosemary Sutcliff
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
And
Bird of Passage by Catherine Czerkawska which I had never heard of but which sounds amazing.
Total: £3.47.
