Jodi (readinbooks) | 1971 comments I am trying to get my last book read before the end of the month. I am half way through but not a lot of time left and reading two other books at the same time.

Sara (shesautomatic) | 112 comments Nice job Jody! I'm down to the wire as well with my last book, gotta finish it up this weekend.

Zara's Retreat | 2365 comments Hi everyone,

I just wanted to check if everyone can let me know whether I have got all your tallies correct please.

Thanks

Jodi (readinbooks) | 1971 comments There is no way I am going to finish my third book for this challenge. I am out all day tomorrow and won't have a chance to read. It will be 2.5/3 for me :( I read too many books this month that didn't fit this classic category. I was hoping Ender's Game would be on the list but it wasn't.

My third book that I am 60% finished is Rebecca and I am loving it so far. I do recommend it to people. It was a good challenge though and there are many books on the list I am still planning on reading.

Gecko (geckosleseleben) I reached my goal last week but forgot to post an update. So here it is:

1.) Joseph Heller - Catch-22 - 07/22/2013 - ✔
2.) Oscar Wilde - The Picture of Dorian Gray - 07/06/2013 - ✔
3.) William Shakespeare - Macbeth - 07/19/2013 - ✔
04.) Mary Shelley - Frankenstein - 07/06/2013 - ✔

Jessica | 177 comments Jessica's update 1/6 Epic Fail ;-)

Well I completely failed this challenge. Not sure what I was thinking putting my goal at 6. I only managed to read (actually a re-read of my favorite book) Pride and Prejudice.

Sara (shesautomatic) | 112 comments I finished up my last book for the challenge, making my goal of 8/8. Thanks again for leading Challenge Zara, I ended up with a few five star books from doing it!

What's funny is I remember not liking Catcher in the Rye and Animal Farm in High School (I probably skimmed them though) and liking The Scarlet Letter but this time around I loved Catcher and Animal Farm but had a really tough time getting through The Scarlet Letter. The writing was good but it was probably one of most boring books I've picked up all year. Guess my tastes have changed.

I think our tastes in books do change Sara. I've certainly found that myself lately. Congratulations Sara on achieving your goal.

Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments Thanks for leading, Zara! You always do such a great job.

Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments I didn't get to my goal: I only read one, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. But congratulations to everyone who did, and thanks to everyone who participated!

Thanks Kara. It's a pleasure. I really enjoy leading these challenges. Are there any August ones yet?

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments I'm going to give myself a day's grace period on this challenge to finish 1984 - it's been a crazy last few days.

I can't wait to see the new challenges. My friend thinks I need a goodreads challenge intervention. I am a little addicted to the challenges.

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments I'm less than 24 hours late, but I finally finished 1984 by George Orwell. This was a good book, and I understand why it has been considered a classic for so long. I understood the future that Orwell envisioned and appreciated his intellectual discourse on the topic. However, I thought that there were several passages that were long-winded and unnecessary. Overall, definitely worth reading but with tons of caffeine. 3.5 stars

2/2 - challenge complete!

Emma Olsen (emmanoelleolsen) | 6 comments Well that was an epic fail. I read ONE book out of the 6 I had hoped to read. I started Pride and Prejudice though, maybe I'll finish it.

message 69: by Alison (new)

Alison G. (agriff22) | 1188 comments I didn't reach my goal for the month. But I did get 50% and I helped my personal goal of reading 5 classics for the year. I think I will make that one! *If I can get through Les Mis*

Kaitlin (kait-k) | 537 comments I didn't make my goal of 3 - only read 2. Sorry I fell off the face of the earth. I've been really busy and lost track of all my challenges, but I'm still reading and writing reviews :-)

That's fine Kaitlin. Glad to know that you're still busy reading.
