The other book in the same series is attributed to "M.^M." (complete with disambig space) and only has "M.M." on the cover. I changed the author on the book record of Ahoy Gum Drop to "Miss Mae" from "M.M." and added a librarian note. The author changed it back and is not happy.

Is it OK to attribute a book ONLY to the initials of the author who appears on the cover and ignore the rest of the name? That would set a precedent that might be difficult to keep track of if it became more generally used. Plan 'B' might be to have "M. M." as the primary author and "Miss Mae" as backup. Or vice versa.

Monique (kadiya) | 1097 comments Since GoodReads policy is to list the author as it is shown on the cover and I know I've seen lengthy discussions with some authors over this, I think that Miss Mae should be listed as the author and M.M. as the secondary.

I see that she has the book listed for a giveaway so perhaps she was afraid people wouldn't find it? But still, I see no reason to change policy over that.

Just my 2 cents.

It would be more likely to be found WITH the cover author listed than otherwise.

How long have you been a super-librarian? I really need to pay more attention.
