Reads with Scotch Well I was woken up this morning by an annoying ringing phone. I prop myself up on my elbows and stared at the phone in disbelief. Nobody calls me... somebody must be dead.... but even then why would anyone call me about some dead screw ass that is better off dead? I must have taken to much 'personal' time contemplating this in my sleepy head because the machine picked it up... I hear the voice of someone vaguely familiar. A couple of corporate buzz phrases, and a please call as soon as you get this... WTF DUDER! it is 0630 assface, I'm going to kill you. I hope you have good health insurance bitch because your going to need it.

Reads with Scotch Oh the call ended up being about me getting transferred down south... {:-/ apparently I do my job to well and am to go south and replace an ass hat that can't get his shit, or his team together. So I loose my team, I loose my view, and I have to re-establish my hateful workplace dominance all over again in a few weeks. ASSHATS and why couldn't this news wait until I was back at work next week? I don't know but I am putting it in on my next time sheet, they are paying me a OT day, fucking waking me up at 630.

Reads with Scotch I know it is strange... I am an odd duck that loves technology but hates it at the same time. I don't like being available to everyone 24/7 so I tend to turn my cell phone off, and then forget that I turned it off until I need to make a call. So I got an answering machine. I never thought it would actually be used... let alone at 630 in the morning; and me sitting there staring at it with a what the fuck is going on here look slapped all over my Chevy Chase.

Damn straight. A buddy of mine once told me about a three minute work-related phone call he got off duty. He added an hour to his next time sheet becuase "An hour is like an egg - once it's broken, it's done."

Reads with Scotch 600 miles south... I won't be in the arctic circle any more.

Damn skippy... I have an ongoing agreement with them, if they call me for a work related issue on R&R they have to pay me for the full day. So I guess I shouldn't bitch about the call, But I am pretty pissed about the transfer.

Reads with Scotch banging on my door would be dangerous as well... my bedroom window is above the door. I have all kinds of things to drop on them from this vantage point.

Reads with Scotch Well, I guess it isn't really a big deal. I'm usually up early anyway. I am more pissed about the content of the phone call then THE phone call.

smetchie | 5729 comments OH how I wish that waking up at 6:30 was such a rarity that I could be pissed at the person who caused it. SOMEDAY I will have that life. SOMEDAY.

Reads with Scotch well now that you mention it I guess it is upsetting... I am usually the one up around 5. So I guess I am mad at the call, I was SLEEPING IN!

Rusty (rustyshackleford) | 2198 comments That's right Gretchen, look at the bright side. You will have that life.........in 25 years, after the kids are out of the house, you've retired, and you're too old to appreciate it.

And then one of the kids will move back in with you, along with their kids. Aaahhhh, the circle of life.

message 13: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 5729 comments Oh no you don't, Rusty. First of all I know for a fact that my kids are going to start sleeping in on the weekends at the age of 7. I only have 5 years to go. Second of all, once they move out they are NEVER coming back.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Poor Nick! Is the move temporary?

Reads with Scotch no... it will be my new work home as of next month. Stupid.

You remember that little oil spill 20 years ago? Well I will be working about an hour north of there.

message 16: by Kasia (new)

Kasia But isn't it better to be more south? More light, and closer to home (I assume). And maybe, just maybe the new team will turn out just fine...

I know nobody likes changes, but maybe it's going to be fine.

message 17: by Kasia (new)

Kasia Oh, and I've been trained (drunk phone calls at odd hours, etc) not to leave my phone on for the night. You must have had it all too easy, no wacky friends...
