What are you up to at the moment?
I just delivered my examn, and now I'm reading Clockwork Angel just because I can read something other than my curriculum.
@Adam: It's pretty good, IMO. I'm sure if you liked the first, you'll like #2. It's got the same police force in it (minus Willem Defoe) besides the original actors as the Saints and their father. It also explores Il Duce's character quite a bit.

Yeah I know. I was really happy about the dinosaur book until I saw the tepid reviews on here. Oh well, I was thinking of Emily when I got it so maybe a ten year old will enjoy it.... the Batman looks very cool, and my hardcover King collection is getting closer to completion.
Addy wrote: "So I got pretty lucky in my search for old treasures. I found Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, The Sentinel and The Haunting of Hill House. I really wanted Shirley's When We Lived At the Castle but didn'..."Those are some great books! The Sentinel is one of my favorite books. I really liked the movie too!
Yes. I got it for 50 cents and it looks scary good. I will have to watch the movie some time. It even got good reviews on GR. Might be my next read. The whole priest who happens to be a voyeur is creepy!
I'm drinking coffee and just finished Pin. What an excellent book! Loved it! Trying to finish L. Ron Hubbard's Fear which isn't very good but has managed to gain my curiosity. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.
I missed my coffee this morning. RRRRrrrr.I saw that L. Ron Hubbard book FEAR somewhere recently, but I've never seen anything of his that struck my interest.
Addy wrote: "I'm excited to learn that Pin is an old horror flick from the 80s! It's currently being remade."I was familiar with the movie, but didn't know it was a book!
I got home early from work this week. I only had to work until 12:30 p.m. so I am taking advantage of a longer weekend and right now I'm watching the Louisville game and cooking. Actually, I might switch to the Air Force and Navy game. Louisville is my team, but dang their schedule is weak this year. Got a bit of reading done at work and plan to read in-between the game, cooking and cleaning. GREAT NEWS - My grandson who ran away from home four months ago and is involved in a lot of really risky behavior decided to turn himself in last night. I went with him and his mom to police headquarters last night. About broke my heart when they put the handcuffs on him, but at least we know he is safe and has a better chance of getting the help he so desperately needs.
Cindy, many roads to a better place lead through rough patches. Hope he's on his way. Just saw the movie GRAVITY, pretty intense experience.
Cindy my grandson ran away from home 3 times last year and got into all kinds of trouble. But he's all settled down now, he had to change school and live with a foster carer for a while but he really is doing a lot better. It is upsetting to see them go through so much though isn't it.
At the moment I'm deciding what to watch and having a cup of tea.
Yes. Its a bit pricey I think, but well worth it. I'm pretty sure its on kindle. Also, about Fear by Hubbard, I was thoroughly impressed by the ending. I guess what I didn't like was the madness he went through. What do they call that kind of writing? You know, very descriptive writing of madness that sometimes doesn't make sense? Well after all that the ending was pretty awesome so I guess Im eating my words from yesterday...lol.
reading and playing on my phone while my hubby watches elton john on pbs.cindy I hope everything works out for your grandson
Just received my book from amazon. An old paperback, horror of course, Elizabeth by Jessica Hamilton. Suppose to be pretty good. But hoping to get some other reads done before I dive into this one.
I have that same book, ELIZABETH, sitting here on the bookshelf beside my desk. Haven't read it yet, but it looks like a quick, fun read. Love the cover.
Lol. That's pretty cool! Yes, it looks fun and it has a great cover. Glad to see someone has this book as well:)
I'll have to look that one up. I haven't heard of it before. My house of leaves will be here next week so I me as a quick read before it turns up.
Best wishes on House of Leaves. The layout of that book scared me more than anything that could possibly be in it. You truly have courage. Many people enjoy it, hope you do, too.
I've got my 10 year old daughter and my niece at my older sister's pool, and they are having tons of post -summer fun. After this I have to go see my mom and then mow the old lawn. I wonder if I will get to read any at all today.
It's 9pm here in Manchester, so I'm about to watch Pacific rim. As if I needed to watch more giant robots break cities. Then I'm starting salticidae.
I just wanted to check in and let you guys know what is going on. I haven't been on here much lately. I am REALLY depressed and don't know why. It really sucks to have no insurance and all of the low-income clinics tell you there is at least a three month wait to get in. Hopefully, this is just a temporary thing and will go away in a few days. Sorry folks, not trying to be distant or anything. It's just a struggle to even get out of bed. Will worry about catching up on my reading whenever I get this under control. I will still pop in and out of the group. Found an online support group and I'm gonna see if that helps any.
1052Catching up on paperwork then hoping to fit an hours reading in later before the school refugee's descend
9:23am EDT: Reading, and looking forward to going to the bookstore later today. It's my birthday, so I'm splurging...well, more than usual anyway :)

Just got my last kid on the bus so I'm gonna sit here with coffee and read before I tackle this housework
I'm sorry to hear that Cindy:( I hope everything works out. Depression sucks. Been there myself a few times. Hang in there:)
I have really bad depression too, Cindy. I have dealt with it my whole life. I think it's one reason I read so much: escapism.
I hope your feeling better soon Cindy. I've battled depression and know how hard it can be. The insurance thing sucks. We, thank God, at least don't have to worry about that. My house of leaves is finally here, it's a big book, I'm of now to see if I can make a start to it.
I'm starting to see a common thread here. I also suffer from depression, and have taken medication for it for many years. I wonder if the same feelings and chemical makeup that make people crave reading and books, may also contribute to the issues with depression and anxiety. I'm sorry for what you're going through Cindy. It sounds like you have a lot of us that understand it, and are here for you!

Can't wait to see what you think Angie. HoL was one of my favorite books. Mark Danielewski is a really interesting person, and I enjoyed watching a couple of the interviews and videos of him and his sister Poe on YouTube.
I was just featured at SF Signal with a bunch of people far more qualiied to talk about which media tie-ins have been worthy additions to their franchise. How did I get on this list? Let me know if you figure it out, because I'm stumped! And geeking out just a little.....http://www.sfsignal.com/archives/2013...

Let's see, you might have been chosen because you're reviews are so inciteful and well written, or it might have been because you have an awesome blog site, or it might have been because you appear to be incredibly knowledgeable about what you're talking about! Whichever reason, Congrats!

@Rick: Thank you!@Gregor: I was approached, which flattered me enough as it was, but I had no idea who else was on the list. When I saw the finished post I was blown away....I've read a couple of those guys. And another is on my Kindle right now waiting for me to finish my current book so I can start his....
@Evans: Thanks!
Sitting in the living room and all these fire trucks are goin by so my husband walks outside to see if he can tell what it is. The neighbor from across the street comes over and says my husbands work at the end of the road is on fire. So now he's got everyone calling him because they know were close to it. He went down and said its gone so idk what we're going to do.

Awesome. That's the honey pot right there. I'm glad to see you got the Stalkers book. It must be going around. I found a thrift shop in my area that is going to be my new playground I think. I scored some goods today.
I wish I could take a picture and post on here, but since I can't I'll do it like this:

paperback:
