You're welcome!I can't wait to re-read it someday, in preparation for Doctor Sleep! Who knows when that will happen, though.. :(
I'm currently reading World War Z (starting to really enjoy it) and Elijah's Mermaid (just started). I have given up a bit on The Turn of the Screw because the story just doesn't really seem to develop :(

We ran the spectrum when we had the monthly read of that. Some of us really enjoyed it, and some of us never finished it!

I'm on page 219 now and there have been moments when I regretted buying that book, I must be honest. On the other hand, some parts were really good and I could almost not stop reading. I noticed that when he was "interviewing" the people about politics and that stuff, I started to read very uncareful and was really not interested at all... but all in all I enjoy it very much!

The thing that really struck me about the book, is how much thought and research had to go into different details. Everything from how the military would react, and what types of weapons were at their disposal, how life would continue after things started to settle down. The idea of the north country being filled with frozen zombies was very bizarre!

He must have spent ages to construct and develop all those ideas and assumptions on how everyone would react and what would happen. Plus, I really like the short interview style. I'm sometimes too easily distracted by the characters having an inner monoglogue or just going on about the landscape etc. in this book, it's more like a dialogue which brings diversity and keeps my eyes glued to the pages :)
What do you think of them, Jason? I used to love King, but I could never seem to get going in that series.
I've put my fiction aside for some professional lit. I'm reading The Book Whisperer for work. I'm an elementary school special education teacher.
Well ... this feels like it has been my worst reading month in recent history, but I should finish the month having read 12 novels and 3 novellas.
I'm still concentrating on
,
and I really need to finish
too. The good news is I have some good reads lined up. I am about to turn to non-fiction. Next month should be a really good month.

Oh trust me, King's DT books only get better and more profound, IMO.

Also, I read the original version of The Gunslinger. Can anyone tell me what the newer version added?
Brenda wrote: "What do you think of them, Jason? I used to love King, but I could never seem to get going in that series."I'm the same way brenda. have loved everything king except that series.
I'm starting

That one sounds good, Joycedale. I added it to my TBR list. After all, what's one more? LOL!
Finished What Hides Within. Brilliant novel, Jason. Thanks for allowing me to read it free. I will certainly buy a copy. It was that good. I will write up a review soon.
Finished What Hides Within, Jason's awesome novel that kept me solidly glued the whole time, except while I was dealing with my mom's health emergency. I will write a review soon. I am thinking of reading The Summer I Died next. Or I might check out Abandon by Blake Crouch.

I'm not very far into it, but so far, so good. I don't think it grabbed me the way Gone Girl did, but I am enjoying it.
I have to say, Gillian Flynn is a master at writing main characters you love to hate.
Jason wrote: "Also, I read the original version of The Gunslinger. Can anyone tell me what the newer version added?"I've only read the original too, but I think he just rewrote a few scenes to clear up some inconsistencies with the later books.

Currently reading "Star Wars: Scoundrels" by Timothy Zahn. Unlike most of what they've been putting out recently, you don't need a whole lot of knowledge of the Expanded Universe to enjoy this one. Think "Ocean's Eleven" with Han Solo in the lead role. :-D

Yes, I believe you're right, Courtney. The new version is also supposed to be a little easier to read, I've heard. Though in complete earnestness, I found the original to be quite simplistic and beautiful. Once you get used to the general setting and Roland's character, it's pretty much smooth sailing, IMO. I hope you enjoy it, Jason!

Lina wrote: "I'm going to finish The Silver Linings Playbook today."I watched the film recently. How is the book?
I had ordered a copy of The Gates, for an upcoming Buddy Read and it was my first time ordering from Better World Books. I'm guessing most everyone else is familiar with them, but I got an e-mail updating the travel status of my book, along with a thank you message from the book, telling me how happy it was to come and live with me:) It reminds me of ordering something from Vermont Teddy Bears, and getting a delivery of the bear in it's own box home!

That's funny Rick. The last time I ordered a book from that company was two or three years ago and I did not get a note like that. I am jealous. :-)

Erica wrote: "Reading Countdown City by Ben H. Winters."I just got a review copy of Countdown City. I read The Last Policeman, and really enjoyed it. I used to live in Concord, NH, and now I live in Contoocook, which is just 5 or 10 minutes away, so I was able to follow everything he was writing about! They had an interview with Ben Winters on NPR recently on a segment I think they call 'Crime in the City'. You could probably find it in NPR archives. They visited a couple of the sites he wrote about, and then went to the Concord Police Department to talk with a couple local cops. It was really good!
I've been wanting to read The Last Policeman for a long time. Glad you thought it was good Rick. Didn't recognize the authors name at first. May checkout the other one as well.
I'm just getting ready to start John Dies at the End, as well as a review copy of Sloughing Off the Rot and eagerly waiting for my copy of The Gates Samuel Johnson 1, for the buddy read that Addy started. I'm also reading some things I downloaded to my tablet.
Still need to find John Dies... As well as Cannery Row for a Novella group. Trying to finish Pillars of the Earth which I stalled to finish Swan Song and prepare for the upcoming school year.

Absolutely... Just have less time lately. But it is so enjoyable. It's hard to stop once I get going.
Just started Dead Ever After, and will start listening to The Amber Spyglass later on my morning commute :)
