GeneralTHC Reading a medical thriller by Robin Cook Cell. So far, so good. This would be a great book for a group read.

I read R.Cook's Invasion 2 months ago. It was good but it was translated. I don't know how I managed to read books before that were not in English (at least by English writing authors). It is such a big difference...especially if you have a lousy translation.

Sorry for getting carried away :)

It was good but I liked Hammer of the Gods better.

message 811: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Tocco (kaylatocco) currently I'm reading Cannery Rowlove John Steinbeck1Q84(this one is taking me a little while) The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay(I am in love with this book even though it's been taking me a while to finish it)Absalom, Absalom!(very very difficult, I find it a bit easier to understand when I read it out loud) Those are all books I'm working on for my Ultimate Insanity Book challenge of over 1700 books to read before I die. What I'm reading for pure pleasure and to take a mental break from life and the harder books are generally romance in nature though at the moment the books listed are the only ones I'm reading.

Holly | 140 comments Making my way through Downfall (Sam Capra # 3) by Jeff Abbott , which is a thrilling, awesome read! This is my second Jeff Abbot/Sam Capra novel, and I believe I'm hooked!

I can't wait to start NOS4A2 by Joe Hill , which is going to be my next read.

message 816: by [deleted user] (new)

I absolutely loved NOS4A2 by Joe Hill Holly. I've only read two of Hill's books, but plan on reading more.

message 817: by Holly (new)

Holly | 140 comments I've decided to start it today Cindy. This will be my first Joe Hill novel. I'm very excited!!

message 818: by [deleted user] (new)

Great! You'll enjoy it.

message 819: by GeneralTHC (last edited Mar 06, 2014 06:54AM) (new)

GeneralTHC I'm reading a nonfiction book: Blood Will Out The True Story of a Murder, a Mystery, and a Masquerade by Walter Kirn I am going to start reading A LOT more nonfiction. I just challenged myself to read 50 nonfiction books this year.

message 820: by Gregor (new)

Gregor Xane (gregorxane) | 106 comments Yeah, that looks pretty interesting.

message 821: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Impulsively set aside The Island Of Death at 60% to start Robert Plant: A Life, one of the many rock bio's I have queued up for this year. Not that the other book is dragging - it is actually quite decent, but I am weird like that. Easily distracted and always looking for something else to read. Chuck, that is an absolutely fantastic goal for nonfiction. Good luck and happy reading. That book does look intriguing.

message 822: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I've spent all day and night until 5am reading
Words of Radiance Words of Radiance (The Stormlight Archive, #2) by Brandon Sanderson I was reading for about 20 hours and I finished it, it was awesome:o I'm maybe starting
The Abominable The Abominable by Dan Simmons today.

message 823: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments Jeez, I wish I had the stamina to do that. I used to be able to, but not any more. I am hoping to get through Chameleon The Awakening (Book 1 of The Forest People) by Maggie Faire and Stiltskin by Andrew Buckley quickly, both quite good so far. But I really want to finish Flawless (Pretty Little Liars, #2) by Sara Shepard I am not allowing myself to read it until I have finished the other two though.

message 824: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments Emma I'm regretting it now, lol. My eyes are so sore this morning, but I couldn't stop reading it. Thankfully I've got nothing to do today so I'm going to have a bit of a sleep in a minute. That should help some:)

message 825: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments @Cindy are you enjoying the Alex Rider series then? I am going to start the second one soon :)

message 826: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, Emma, I have the second book just waiting. I was trying to catch up on some of my other four books first but the Alex Rider series is a quick, easy read. I'll start on the second book anytime you're ready.

message 827: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments Sorry Cindy I thought you said you were almost finished the second one. Was wondering if it was good :)

message 828: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm an idiot! Reading so many books I can't keep track. Yes, I have read Point Blank. Sorry, I'm gonna be starting Skeleton Key next. I apologize.

message 829: by [deleted user] (new)

Now, that I can take my mind off 1984 for a second I can recall the second Alex Rider book. I actually liked it better than the first one. Sorry for the confusion. I have too many books going.

message 830: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments It's okay, I know the feeling. There just is not enough time for all the books :(

message 831: by [deleted user] (new)

I was so caught up in 1984 that I really did forget I had read the second book in the Alex Rider series. I'm gonna start the third one here in the next day or two.

message 832: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments That's okay, you must really have enjoyed 1984, which is great, if a book can make you forgot about another book, that's fantastic

message 833: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm not finished with it yet, but I am enjoying it a great deal. Really makes you think.

message 834: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments That's always a good thing. I like books that make you think :)

Angie | 623 comments Cindy wrote: "I'm an idiot! Reading so many books I can't keep track. Yes, I have read Point Blank. Sorry, I'm gonna be starting Skeleton Key next. I apologize."

I'd do a fast read of that with you Cindy. I've got book three waiting to be read. And as you say it takes hardly anytime at all to read. It will be good to read something quick in between all those long books:-)

message 836: by Gregor (new)

Gregor Xane (gregorxane) | 106 comments I'm thinking of starting this Scott Nicholson book, Solom: The Scarecrow this evening. Has anyone read this one?

message 837: by [deleted user] (new)

@Angie - Sounds like a plan to me. I started it earlier tonight, but I'm only 37 pages in.

Are you enjoying the book to the TV show Lina? I loved the books much more. So much more info in them.

message 842: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliace) I'm trying to read Flowers for Algernon but I'm having a really hard time with it. I think this is one I'll have to read in spurts. I do think it's a good read though.

Other than that, I've been having a bad year so far. I Can. Not. find anything that is holding my interest regardless what genre I try to read. I've read a few re-reads so far, but haven't been able to read a new book :(

message 843: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kobus (michellekobus) I'm reading Son of a Witch. I'm 34% in...I'm still not sure what to think! Get back to me in a little bit :)

I bet I can pick you a winner. What's your favorite genre?

message 850: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliace) I've been having a hard time this year finding something to read to keep me interested, but I just received Bambi by Felix Salten from the library and, even though it's a YA, I'm really enjoying it. I'm just glad I'm able to find something I like to read.
