Has War and Peace already been tackled? If not, I'd like to nominate it. Just started reading it and it's gooooooood :-)
Glynis wrote: "Has War and Peace already been tackled? If not, I'd like to nominate it. Just started reading it and it's gooooooood :-)"It has not. That's a LOOOONG one. Would take us the rest of the year, probably. LOL.
Edit: Also, i know which novel you were referring to, but everyone, please, best practice is to include a link to both title and author of the novel.
Sorry, I don't know how to do the link using my ipad. It is rather long. Maybe I'll choose another title... ;-)
Glynis, no worries, just for future reference if you click the "add book/author" and then type in the title, that usually works on my iPad. Still want War and Peace?
Glynis wrote: "Sorry, I don't know how to do the link using my ipad. It is rather long. Maybe I'll choose another title... ;-)"Okay, well let me know if you'd like to officially nominate it. I've already added it to the main thread, but I can remove it if you're not sure.
And yeah, I actually aimed for a short-ish one myself, since we've gotten derailed on the longest chunksters in the past.
I'll remove War and Peace please. I'm using the Goodreads App... Maybe I ought to try the full web version on the ipad. I'll think of another title to nominate and get back to you all. Thanks!
Just wanted to steal this from the other nomination thread and post it here so we have it to reference. Please follow these guidelines when nominating.Remember:
1) Only one nomination per member
2) Link to both the book and the author in your nomination
Like this please: War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
3)Please reference the rules for nominating in the Group Guidelines when deciding on your nomination.
ok, I'll leave this with Loretta so we quit getting double Mod opinions on the posts...lol. I just love sticking my nose in here...sorry Loretta!

Thanks!"I have to use the full web version if I wanna link book titles, sorry, I totally forgot about the app! I love it, but if I'm checking threads its so much easier on the web for me.
I would like to nominate The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy please. You're right. It's much better using the full web version!!

Nominations are closed. I was not around this weekend to post that. I'll edit the final list and post the poll shortly.
Okay, the full nomination list is above. Please double-check my work, make sure I didn't miss anything. I will post the poll a little later today.
This will be my fourth time reading GWTW - I read it in elementary school, junior high, and college (about 15 years ago). Feels like I'm meeting up with an old friend.
Ah, the pressure is off as a book I have already read has been selected. It hasn't been long since I read it so I can at least look at the discussions to see if I have anything to add. Enjoy the read!
Great --- this is also on my list of books to read this year (along with Wolf Hall). Can I successfully do 2 chunksters??? I guess we will find out!
Sandra, the schedule will be coming soon, not sure about the start date right this second, but I will keep you informed.JoLene, I wish you speedy reading ;)
Loretta wrote: "I think early August for a start sounds reasonable?"Are you doing this schedule, or am I??
I've read this 2X already. It's one of my favorite books of all-time! I've been wanting to re-read it! August sounds like a good time to me! :)
This one has been on my to-read shelf for ages. I hope I can make the time to join in as for some reason this chunkster seems daunting to me but I so want to read it.
Loretta wrote: "i've got a copy of the book, so I can do it. Probably this weekend?"Great! I don't have a copy, I only have the audio. This weekend is wonderful! Thanks for scheduling it!
I'm looking forward to this one. GWTW has been on my list for a very long time now and I've just never gotten around to it. This will be the push that I need!
Can't believe it's almost August! I know there was some discussion about starting in August. I am happy to step in and propose a schedule if it's needed. Just post me back a message. I have an old copy of GWTW, but I can probably snag a more common copy at the library to make a schedule.
Sorry, have been too busy to post it. Would you all like to start this weekend or the weekend after?
Cool guys. I actually have the book right here. Time to start tabbing it and get a schedule together.
