Paula (pauldajo) I'm reading Lord Loss. A good kid's book with lots of disturbing descriptions.

message 3403: by Amy (new)

Amy I'm reading Rapture (Fallen, #4) by Lauren Kate and absolutely loving it!

message 3405: by Amy (new)

Amy Finished Rapture (Fallen, #4) by Lauren Kate and Blue Bloods The Graphic Novel by Melissa de la Cruz . Getting ready to start Altered (Altered, #1) by Jennifer Rush today. It was a random book that I picked up at the library.

message 3406: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kirsten27) | 53 comments I'm reading twelve things at least. Liking The Diviners, by Libba Bray, loathing Crime and Punishment (book club), about to start At Home by Bill Bryson ( book club as well). Want to get back to How to be a Woman, by Caitlin Moran.

message 3407: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) I've got 3 books going... Sleepless which is ok so far but I'm not expecting a 5 star book, Between Shades of Gray which is such a depressing book but good at the same time, and Pushing the Limits which I can't put down!

message 3408: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kirsten27) | 53 comments I loved Pushing the Limits, and when I read it, I couldn't put it down, either!

Paula (pauldajo) I finished Lord Loss and will start Demon Thief and Extras.

It's an audiobook, so I have to keep shhh-ing my family while I listen and cook dinner! :)

Shannon (shannonkay) | 2 comments I've been rereading the Anne of Green Gables series.

I need to reread those books. I loved them so much as a kid.

message 3413: by Alan (new)

Alan (alanmccluskey) I just finished Maria Snyder's A Touch of Power. A gripping story that I read in a day. The writing could have been richer and more adventurous.

message 3414: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Okay, I'm on to 3 new books:
An Abundance of Katherines by John Green
Cinder by Marissa Meyer
From Where I Stand by Tabitha Suzuma

Haven't started any of them yet, but I'm hoping it's a good mix of action/drama/comedy. I hate when I choose more than one serious book to read at the same time.

message 3415: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished Slawter, Bec, and Blood Beast.

I've started Extras again. So far I'm liking the story more than I did the 1st time around.

message 3416: by Amy (new)

Amy Reading May Bird Among the Stars (May Bird, #2) by Jodi Lynn Anderson . It's book two in a three book series.

That's interesting, Paula. Extras was my least favorite of the series. I wonder if I'd like it better a second time around.

Kirsten (kirsten27) | 53 comments Angela, An Abundance of Katherines was one of the first YA books I read when I got hooked several years ago, and it's terrific. Pretty much all John Green books are!

message 3419: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) Angela, I think I don't hate Extras like I did way back when I first started the story. It seem to be an add on to the trilogy, didn't belong. Extras is my least favored of the Uglies books, but not 'throw it against the wall' type of book. I do believe I'll like it well enough. Though the story is over 400 pages, may get tired of the superficial and shallow people.

I'm a little nervous to start it, actually. I'm one of the only people alive who didn't like Looking For Alaska, which is the only other John Green novel I've read. My fingers are crossed!!

message 3421: by Amy (new)

Amy I loved the whole pretties series, but Extras was a little hard for me to get through. Didn't enjoy it as much.

message 3422: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kirsten27) | 53 comments Angela, I never even finished Looking for Alaska! You should read Will Grayson, will Grayson. And also The Fault in Our Stars.

Oh! I did read TFIOS, and I thought that one was great. I'd forgotten that was John Green! Whew! :)

Eden Silverfox (tsalagi_writer) | 265 comments I'm currently reading Clash of the Demons by Joseph Delaney.

message 3425: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I am listening to Cinder. At first the cyborg thing threw me off, but now I'm cool with it. To me cyborg is human.

That's my take also. Androids are robots, cyborgs are humans with prosthetic parts/implants.
I'm enjoying the audio version, but I always wish I could see how names are spelled :)

This week I'm reading true stories by teens published by Zest Books. I just finished Regine's Book, about a girl from Norway who kept a blog during her fight with cancer. The book compiles all those posts and adds extras. Next up will be Zoo Station, about a girl from Germany who struggled with drug addition. Quite the contrast in attitudes!

You can read my review of Regine's Book here:

Hi Amy. If you put only the picture of the book we have to click on it to know what it is, unless we already recognise it....
Hope you enjoy the book. Alan.

Emily I just finished Wonder and couldn't put it down. I've started on If I Stay and also loving that :)
