I too am seriously looking forward to Beautiful Darkness as well as the new Cassandra Clare book and the third book in the Hunger Games Trilogy.

I just started Ransom My Heart . . . so far I am not convinced enough of its awesomeness to stick it out - I'll give it one more try!

I finished reading The Lightning Thief. It wasn't bad. My biggest complaint was the universe. I just didn't like the descriptions of the underworld and how it functioned. I try not to judge a children's book the same way I would an adult or YA book, so I shrugged my shoulders and went on reading. I think that kids 12 and under would like the story and universe and there were elements in the book that I liked too.

I loved The Lightning Thief! But I teach fourth grade and they were so into it. From a teacher's standpoint, the description of the Greek gods and such were easy for them to understand. For me, I love mythology so it was lacking in that sense.

Peeps was okay. Sort of gross but the ending was a let down for me.

I just finished "If I Stay" and "In the Forest of Hands and Feet." Both books made me cry in places and are very different from each other. "If I Stay" made the nomination list for the Teen Top Ten for 2010 at YALSA. Definitely worth the read. "In the Forest of Hands and Feet" was interesting and does have a sequel but I'm not sure if there will be any more after that. It does leave a multitude of questions unanswered at the end but only because the main character does not have access to the knowledge that would answer those questions. I do strongly recommend "If I Stay;" a very thought provoking story.

There will be a sequel to If I Stay that is from Adam's POV. And Forest of Hands and Teeth will be three books though more companion books than direct sequels.

Just finished SEA by Heidi R. Kling and loved it. It comes out in June. I loved that it was different than the typical YA realistic ficiton (which I normally try to avoid). Off to read Ash by Malinda Lo.

Started Restoring Harmony by Joelle Anthony. Wow! Intense right from the beginning and I am loving it.

Do you know when the sequel will be out? I just finished If I Stay and read most of it through teary eyes.

Roshini - I had a chance to see Gayle Forman at the UCLA Festival of Books. She is amazing. The *sequel* will be called Where She Went and will be out in 2011 but doesn't have a definite date yet. If you liked IF I Stay, you may also want to try Jandy Nelson's The Sky is Everywhere.

Thanks Alyson! I've seen The Sky is Everywhere but wasn't sure if it was good, some of the reviews were not so promising. But you recommend it?

I can't wait for Where She Went, it's going to be an agonizing wait. If I Stay was one beautiful story, even if I had to pause several times to wipe my eyes.

Roshini - I haven't started The Sky is Everywhere yet but Jandy Nelson was on the same panel as Gayle and Gayle was really talking up Jandy's book. But the real recommendation came from a bookseller friend of mine who thrusted the ARC into my hands and told me I had to read it. My friend does not do this with everything and I take her recommendations seriously. Heck, the book was already out, she could have just recommended that I buy it. I knew this was a serious recommendation because she handed it to me. So...you can wait and I will let you know once I read it or give it a try.

I agree, this series is great for the targeted audience. It's just that as an adult, I didn't like the underworld at all. Too depressing! Are the gods and their stories depicted correctly on the Percy books? I was wondering if artistic license had been taken. It's been so long since I read my mythology. In fact I was thinking of at least finding a family tree to see who is related to whom.

I finished reading The Sea of Monsters and am currently reading The Titan's Curse.

As far as the Percy Jackson series, most of the mythology is correct. They've taken liberties with some of the characters. Example being Artemis and Apollo. Apollo is a ladies man and is very sarcastic, which I don't think is true to mythology. I did a unit on Greek Mythology last year so it was really fresh in my mind when I read the series.

I just started Life As We Knew It today.

Numbers by Rachel Ward was good. I do have to say if you are sensitive about language and sex in YA this has both. I thought that the language was appropriate for the characters but I can see where it could bother some people. Thought it was pretty fast read and really liked what the author did with the story.

I picked up If I Have a Wicked Stepmother, Where's My Prince? from the library yesterday and so far, I think it's hilarious! Lucy is so funny!

Besides, I'm a complete sucker for stories about kids struggling with stepparents and about being a highschool outcast.

I've read it. I am glad you are enjoying it! :D Personally I thought it very predictable and the stepmother was just pretty insecure and not so much "evil" as annoying. . .but that's just me.

I just started The Mother Daughter Book Club, which isn't really YA but I"m reading it for a themed read for my other book challenge. Plus, still struggling to get finished with The Diary of a Young Girl.

Caroline - I actually felt the *Cinderella* aspect dragged the story down. I loved the whole Huntress piece, and the faerie parts. I just felt like the Prince Charming/Step-mother/step-sisters were kind of secondary. I am looking forward to the companion novel because I did like her writing.

Agreed. I also felt like the way things were wrapped up with Sidhean was a bit of a brush-off. I get that it was a lesbian retelling, and I did like Kaisa, but the fact is that Sidhean was a big part, and his part in it was interesting, and I would have liked it to be just as full as the rest.

Misty - I would have to agree with you on that part as well. It was almost too convenient. I still think Lo's overall writing is beautiful and I imagine that her next book which takes a looks at the history of the Huntress will be pretty good.
