The person who originally wrote that was pretty obviously a troll. It happened elsewhere as well. Just igore that one.

Well said Andre.

I suppose there will be some new readers joining this discussion later without even bothering themselves to read the previous comments and claim their version of truth.

Hella Honestly, reading through this, I've wanted to punch Andre in the far multiple times. It's one thing to express your opinion, but if your going to have a new book series born sideways out your butt, then keep it to yourself please! I promise, the guy on the cover isn't going to jump off and suffocate you with his not silver hair while looking at you with his not silver eyes, of true fans of this series can enjoy the cover, I'm sure it won't kill you to enjoy it to! I'm not saying that you mist love it so much you start a fanpage for it, but don't shove it down our throats on how horribly wrong it is, when I honestly liked the cover, and I'm sure others did as well!

Andre Keri wrote: "Honestly, reading through this, I've wanted to punch Andre in the far multiple times. It's one thing to express your opinion, but if your going to have a new book series born sideways out your butt..."

First: Use a thesaurus, your spelling is pretty bad.

Second: Again, what does your enjoyment with the story have anything to do with the cover and the topic of this thread? I honestly have no idea what that last comment of yours was supposed to accomplish.

Third: If I may, comments like yours sound to me as though you love the books so much that you cannot bear when someone says anything that challenges that view of yours. And I wonder why that is. There are others who like the books and they don't act like you do. Not even a little. They insult no one, they stay polite, they actually respect other peoples opinion. So why is it that you act this way?

Nurlely Keri wrote: "...of true fans of this series can enjoy the cover, I'm sure it won't kill you to enjoy it to! ... "

Who were you referring to as true fans? Fans who enjoy the books and ignore whatever flaws the series has?

I like TMI and am Jace biased but I also acknowledge that the series has so many flaws which are quite annoying. I did an exquisite job in ignoring them during my reading but it doesn't mean that I will say that the series is free of flaws.

I swear that's the first time I heard a person who claimed to be a 'true fan' expressing their urge to punch someone else for expressing opinions which are different from their own. Good job, fans of Clare, good job.

First: get your facts straight. a thesarus is used for synonyms and antonyms, not for spelling or grammar.

and second: if anybody can't stand for their ideas to be challenged it is you.
furthermore, no one violently attacked you. you overexaggerated the situation to something it wasn't. i merely stated my opinion saying that it was Jem and then you rudely replied.
"Ok, I will hold back here (alot) and only ask these few questions:"
that sound pretty self righteous to me so don't go around saying that other people don't like their comments when you do the exact same thing.

message 309: by Andre (new) - rated it 1 star

Andre @Belle and Ruby:
Me holding back referred to the fact that had I said from the start what your comments told me you would have exploded right away. But fine let's wipe that away:
Basically what you two have been doing the entire time is exactly what you accuse us to do. Plus Keri openly said she wanted to punch me. Sure, I should of course just smile at that and don't think that she is aggressive? And apparently I should just accept what you two are doing? But all you have been doing so far is insulting everyone who is not of your opinion. You accused them of being stubborn, color blind, you swore and dismissed their points outright.
Plus we never shot anyone down. They started swearing and insulting, just like you. We pointed out the flaws in their reasoning and they stopped. They didn't argue, they just repeated what they had already stated, insulting everyone not being of the same opinion or evading the topic. Many of them acted just like you two, being adamant about their opinions and unwilling to provide the basis for it. What you did there with the possibility of the cover showing Jem's father was the same, outright dismissal. Which is especially stubborn since by that logic the title is wrong since the word was spoken exactly once, in passing and without any relevance to the story. The facts stand that we have provided more evidence as to why we think the cover does not represent Jem than you did for why in your eyes it does.
You two consider us disrespectful, hypocritical, stubborn and judgmental, filled with hate and rudeness because we do not agree with you. And you see those others as victims because they have the same opinion as you do. Because what we say and what we argue does not fit what you see and what you want. So you lash out, you refuse to see another viewpoint and hide behind what you call respect when in truth you have been disrespectful from the start. Had any of us acted the way you acted, this thread would have been full of hate speech already. But we did not. We restrained ourselves to give an actual conversation a chance. I took a lot of time and effort to state my points and you two dismissed them out of hand. You refused to acknowledge and respond to them and now you demand respect for your behavior.

And at last: Both of you stated to not wanting to be here, to not wanting to waste your time, to not going to waste your time. But if that is the case, why are you still here? Why are you coming back if we are such hopeless cases in your mind? Like it has been said so often on goodreads, youtube and any other site where you can comment: If you do not want to respond to something, then don't!

message 310: by Hella (new) - rated it 5 stars

Hella Look, if you want to spend all your time arguing with other people about a book cover then go ahead. A bit kinky if you ask me, but I guess that's what gets you off. And I most likely will refrain from hitting you, Mai ly because I don't know where you live, and also, i don't need another restraining order. JOKING! Just in case you can't wrap your highly intellectual mind around sarcasm, the way you can a YA book.

message 311: by Hella (new) - rated it 5 stars

Hella Oh, and may I add, that you should put your amazing observing skills to use! Maybe a crime scene investigator? You can critique every idea of theirs aswell! Our streets will be so clean with Andre! Or you could be the author that only old women love! You know? The ones who over analilyze every detail and give meaning to an otherwise undescriptie world! Oh the things you could do! But alas, your time is spent here!

Andre You really don't notice how incredibly insulting you are and have been from the start don't you?
Not to mention that your approach has been the same so many others did here and in other Clare related forums. Whenever someone comes along and is not of your opinion, you attack and ridicule them and in the end claim that you are fair people. It is people like you that give fandom a bad name, and who are incredibly easy to milk for cash.
But the fact is the same. I stated why I have my opinion, all you did was insulting people.
So tell me, why should I put any weight in what you say?

Nurlely Keri wrote: "Oh, and may I add, that you should put your amazing observing skills to use! Maybe a crime scene investigator? You can critique every idea of theirs aswell! Our streets will be so clean with Andre!..."

Why can't Andre submit a thread about a cover of a book on goodreads? Anything related to a book is not prohibited to be discussed here. People even discuss movies here.

You are rather abusive to Andre with your suggestion. Is that because you can not deal with his reasons regarding the cover? Is that how a true fans supposed to say when someone confronted the series?
I don't care about the cover and I enjoyed reading CP but I don't go 'killing' anyone who wants to share their opinions about the cover.

message 314: by Hella (new) - rated it 5 stars

Hella Andre, I'm not understanding how you know my approach on any other forums as I have not been on any others. Sorry my darling if your being insulted! Let's put on our big boy panties now!

message 315: by Hella (new) - rated it 5 stars

Hella Well, I'm done with this. I've only been replying so you could humor me with your mindset that you are so far superior than everyone with an opinion! So good day! Goodnight maybe?

Nurlely It is amusing how some readers are so self-righteous and consider themselves as wise while their words did not necessarily speak so.

Andre Nurlely wrote: "It is amusing how some readers are so self-righteous and consider themselves as wise while their words did not necessarily speak so."

Exactly. Interesting how what they accuse us to be is exactly how they themselves act. Not to mention that I wonder how much they actually read of what we are writing.

Hella Last comment: you write a book every time you post, so it's hard to swim through all the arrogance to get to key parts! I'm not saying you can't express your opinion, but as you said to us: tone it down a bit? We will be nice and subtle until you bash us (or we get pissed at your over the top critisicim!) and yes, I know my grammar may not be the best, but using a slow iPod isn't exactly choiceworthy!

Back then I'd heard about Clare fans being known for cyber-bullying and sending other people death threats, and guess what? Now we have a living proof right here on GR. Threatening to punch and hit people who don't agree with you. Clare's fandom has such a bad ugly name on internet because of people like you.

Andre Keri wrote: "Last comment: you write a book every time you post, so it's hard to swim through all the arrogance to get to key parts! I'm not saying you can't express your opinion, but as you said to us: tone it..."
And based on what is my criticism over the top? From what level on does it stop being valid to you? If I have the right to express my opinion then I can do it however I feel is the appropriate way. Now add to that that you are suggesting that you do not even care to read what I wrote in its entirety even if my posts are no larger than yours is not exactly bringing the point across that you actually respect my opinion in any way.
Plus if what you have been doing so far was "nice and subtle" then I have no choice but to conclude that you are apparently a bully of the finest sort.
Plus: Don't just say something is your last comment, proof it. Just delete this thread from your update feed and you will never hear from it again.

Jem was half Asian, half British and full on sexy

message 322: by Andre (new) - rated it 1 star

Andre Which is why I always thought it odd from the beginning that he was portrayed as the unlikely love interest. I mean why was he the one with the physical weakness, the thin body, the always calm demeanor and all? Why not Will? Why couldn't Jem be the sexy heartthrob everyone wanted? Because he was half-Chinese and half-British? Hardly, the way she described him in CA he looks very European, plus even if not, the "lure of the half-breed" (for a lack of a better term) is often quite strong.
I guess his face could have been like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvktp...

Plus for many half-Asian is still nothing but Asian, you belong to the non-white part and nothing else. Even if in cases like Jem's it makes no sense to assign them to that. Jem being "Chinese" doesn't look like part of his character to me but rather grafted on to it in a very sloppy way.

message 323: by Nurlely (last edited Jun 11, 2014 11:48PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nurlely I wonder if Ms Clare messed up the story herself. If we read Clockwork Princess, we would assume that Jem has always been Tessa's soul mate and Will was chosen because he was available and also a must choice for there will be Jace in the future.

That is a total contrast to what we read in CA and CP. Tessa's love for Jem seemed less significant to what she always felt for Will. If Ms Clare can mess up the main idea to her series, no wonder if she made a lot of mistakes in many less important details.

It is possible that she had never planned this out respectively that suddenly she changed it totally on a whim. I really wouldn't be surprised about it. She had retconned/forgotten/ignored several plot points already so this would be in character for her books. Plus she probably needed to hype up the Jem/Tessa thing so it could later be tragic when it doesn't happen and then happens anyway.

Belle wrote: "how do i delete this thread from my updates?"

When you are commenting in the lower right below the comment section (right from "Post" and "preview") there is "Add to my Update Feed". Uncheck it and you should no longer gegt responses. To be safe you can also uncheck the grayed out "Email me when people reply" by pressing "edit" and then chose "none" in the pop up, then you should never again get any notifications about this thread.
