Here is our planned reading/discussion schedule for our mid-year reading project, ‘Spotlight on Nabokov, 2013’, a focused read of Vladimir Nabokov’s writing including novels, a memoir, and some of his literary criticism.

Each Monday, a new discussion thread will be added, covering a portion of the book being read that week. To prevent accidental spoilers, please don't discuss any part of the work beyond the reading for that week.

Invitation to a Beheading - 1936 (original in Russian) – July 8 – 21, 2013 (2 wks)

Lolita – 1955 – July 22 – August 11, 2013 (3 wks)

Pnin – 1957 – August 12 – 25, 2013 (2 wks)

Lectures on Literature – 1980 – August 19 – October 6, 2013 (1 lecture per week for 7 wks)

Lectures cover:
Mansfield Park – Austen
Bleak House – Dickens
Madame Bovary – Flaubert
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Other Tales of Terror – Stevenson
Swann's Way – Proust
The Metamorphosis – Kafka
Ulysses - Joyce

Pale Fire – 1962 – August 26 – September 15, 2013 (3 wks)

Speak, Memory: An Autobiography Revisited – 1967 – September 16 – October 6, 2013 (3 wks)

Ada, or Ardor: A Family Chronicle – 1969 – October 7 – November 10, 2013 (5wks)

The specific weekly dates and corresponding pages/chapters will be posted as we begin each new book. Check the "Schedule for Discussions" and "Questions, Resources and General Banter" posts for each title as each new read approaches.

This is a schedule for the discussions. You can do your reading earlier or later, if you want. The only "rule" we ask you to follow is to respect other members and not reveal any spoilers beyond the part of the book being discussed. Naturally, you can and are encouraged to discuss earlier portions, and by the final week, we can discuss the book as a whole.

One important thing to remember is that we will keep these discussion threads open indefinitely. If you have joined the group and/or the reads after these dates, please go to whichever discussion threads match your reading and add your comments. The moderator and other members will happily respond to your thoughts and questions.
