ABANDONED. children's book about a tree that was grumpy because kids left litter in the park.

I'm trying to remember the name of a book I read as a child. It was about a boy and a tree. The tree was grumpy because children had left litter in the park. I can't remember much more about it! It was probably published in the 80's or early 90's...please help!!!

Was it by shel Silverstein? If so it's the giving tree I think

The book Saige is talking about is The Giving Tree, but it doesn't have anything about littering in it.

Thank you for your suggestions, but it isn't The Giving Tree. That was my first thought too but I have checked and it's not that :(
