Jousting?"
An ahlspiess is a 600 yr old word (Germanic origin) for an iron tipped square wooden pole or pike used for a lance in jousting, etc. Think awl-piece (a pointed metal important military piece). Apparently less than a couple of meters long unlike the movie versions I have seen.
My word: Joe (a soldier) ie: G I Joe = general infantry male
