Why do the food pellets that go into the rabbit look almost exactly the same as the pellets that the rabbit produces from the other end?"
Good question. It is only about a few hours from one end to the other. They have a very large big intestine where the fiber is extracted and pushed along looking much like it went in. that is the answer to your question. The minerals are first extracted and turned to a mucus that is expelled at night as a soft black pellet and they eat that over again for thorough absorption so you will never see that. Cows have four stomachs to accomplish that. Then they regurgitate the cud to further masticate it while each stomach further extracts vital nutrients. Worms have their way and people are the somewhat different creatures. Our stomachs do have the ability to separate almost everything we eat in the first short space to be handled separately like any good process factory. Enough said?
Doesn't have anything to do with language though, except yuch!
Oh, no offense to YOU, Linda. I was just picking on fairy tales. Sorry. My wife has been watching Hallmark Channel Christmas movies every night and I'm a bit...

Linda, Not to worry... I just have to tolerate the Hallmark Dreck-the-Halls Channel while passing through the room. Thanks for your sympathy, however! We speak the same language!

Thanks for the info, but I intended my question to be rhetorical. (Everything we ever wanted to know about rabbit digestion, but never dared ask.)
Another "yuck" concept that most people aren't aware of is that honey bees do something similar with nectar in order to convert it into honey. After internal processing the nectar, the bee regurgitates it as honey for deposit in the hive. I wonder, then, (more rhetorical musing) is honey a vegan product? (Or have I just stirred up a bee's nest - ha, ha!)

Different vegans have a variety of issues that they use to decide what is or is not ethical. You might have to ask them if enzymes are animal or not since they are part of the metabolic conversion of some sugars.

“What Do Women Want?”
BY KIM ADDONIZIO
I want a red dress.
I want it flimsy and cheap,
I want it too tight, I want to wear it
until someone tears it off me.
I want it sleeveless and backless,
this dress, so no one has to guess
what’s underneath. I want to walk down
the street past Thrifty’s and the hardware store
with all those keys glittering in the window,
past Mr. and Mrs. Wong selling day-old
donuts in their café, past the Guerra brothers
slinging pigs from the truck and onto the dolly,
hoisting the slick snouts over their shoulders.
I want to walk like I’m the only
woman on earth and I can have my pick.
I want that red dress bad.
I want it to confirm
your worst fears about me,
to show you how little I care about you
or anything except what
I want. When I find it, I’ll pull that garment
from its hanger like I’m choosing a body
to carry me into this world, through
the birth-cries and the love-cries too,
and I’ll wear it like bones, like skin,
it’ll be the goddamned
dress they bury me in.

Thanks for sticking that up. I'm sure there are other women who want other things literally but if it's all taken as metaphors this is a great piece of entertainment. The title could have been "I want a (fill in whatever you want)." This is a cool poem that can stand an hour of study and disscussion.
The word I will associate here is DEPRAVITY
