I agree, it is good entertainment. And I love the anti-hero in Artemis. Nice change from alot of other books in the genre :)

Oo and Karen you are so right anout Artemis. He is villan and anti-hero but with his reasons. Life made him this way but as a young adult book he is not a villan in a bad way, villan we like.
I must admit I slept last night over book but I'll catch up today.

Foaly was always one of my favourite characters too. Although I can't remember how big a role he played in the first book

I'm at 2/3 of first book now which is amazeing because of work.

For me Artemis has few common fatures with Draco. In his POV chapters, he feels guilt about lyeing to Holly and even Butler hasitates few times when he saw how little faeries are. Artemis is driven with his haritage but mostly his lose of father and mother going crazy because of it.

Isn't that great, children's books are so full of imagination, funny characters like Mulch, positive and brave like Holly, righteous and justifiable like Julius, funny like Fowly.

I agree with you both. The characters are really refreshing, funny, and immensly likeable. I love that fairies are not these pretty girls in flowers, but a highly organised "military" unit...lol
They are childrens books, but there are so many layers that adults enjoy them too

I finished first book and going for second book.
I'm planning to finish the series now when I'm started Oo.
Adventures, faery gold, trolls, Mud People and People and much more, is a combination when written well it's fantastic read for good fun.

Captain Holly Short and boy Artemis Fowl, bodygourd Butler, who was the first man who taken down a troll, bunch of faery character-it's a beggining of a series about Artemis Fowl and his faery enemies, who he after discovering their existence, beggins to exploit them .First of the series and seven more books to read I'm enjoying this great adventures books and secretly wondering how will movie present faery underground city Haven and Fowl Mannor not to mention the Holly, Arty and Butler.

Oo - I got the series through book depository which is cheap with free delivery worldwide which may be a good option for you too. I don't often buy books unless I know I will re-read them and I figure my niece will also enjoy them over the next year or so :)

Just crossed my mind...after all that adventures Artemis and Holly are going through, is it possible to they end up together somehow. After all this is fantasy and everything poossible in fantasy books!?

I going to read Opal deception next.
With every book pieces of the puzzles are unfolding. When you read a series, especially series with 8 books they are connected and like in Harry Potter, characters are growing together. Artemis Fowl is fun, adventurous book but it is also a book(s) about growth, family and friendship.

Finished 4th book
After Foaly's mind wipe, Artemis new adventure starts with steling challenge.

Event from prior books left pixie Opal Koboi in coma but with already organized plan for revenge. Holly, Capt. Root, Artemis and Butler find themselfs as victims of escaped, disturbed and smart Opal Koboi, bad combination for all of them.

Fourth book is about friendship and loyality, Artemis is rethinking his way of life, Holly and Mulch are joining together in new business as private detectives.

I'm slowly going to start reading

Definitely I'll be reading them until I finish the series. Along with other books , of course.
It's hard for me to choose books infront. I read based on my interests and feelings.
