I need to read more classics and figure joining this group will help me on my way with that.

Brittany | 3 comments Hi everyone, I'm Brittany. I'm currently 21 and living in Montana. I read from a wide variety of genres, mostly fiction, contemporary, thrillers, horror, and chick lit. I'm not really into fantasy but will give just about anything else a read. I dream of one day either having a library in my own or opening my own small book store. I don't have many friends in real life that enjoy reading so I look forward to meeting new people to talk books with here :)

message 4865: by Dani (new)

Dani | 3 comments Hi everyone, I'm Daniela. I'm nineteen and live in Chicago. I enjoy reading Allegories, Apologetics, Biographies, Historical Fiction and (surprise, surprise!) the Classics.
Currently, I've set out to catch up on a few of Shakespeare's works. I'm nearly through Hamlet and am about to embark on the Tempest (pun intended!).
Richard III, Henry V, and Macbeth were high school reads for me. I also saw Romeo and Juliet in play. I'd love to know which ones you have read that were most memorable to you and why.

Hi and welcome Dani! You'll be in good company here, because guess what? Everyone here loves the classics too!

I absolutely love William Shakespeare! Many members here do, so you're in good company! My absolute favorite use to be Romeo and Juliet, it's a tragic love story but now my favorite is Hamlet! I also love Shakespeare's Sonnets because I love poetry! What are your favorites?

Hi and welcome to the group Brittany and Daniela. Always nice to have more bibliophiles join us.

message 4868: by Pink (new)

Pink | 5491 comments Welcome to the group Danielle, I also enjoy reading and watching Shakespeare. My favourites so far are Hamlet, Othello, A Midsummer Night's Dream and King Lear. Hamlet is the most memorable for me, because it's the first play of his that I saw performed, at the Globe theatre in London. I hope you enjoy our group and I look forward to chatting with you some more :)

message 4869: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amaflynn) Hi, I live in Northern California and I'm starting my art teaching credential and taking some time off of work. I've had a lot of time to read lately and I'm attempting to do a 40 book challenge this year. However I began in June, so we'll see if I make my goal. I was asked to teach a high school class on classics, which I declined however, It's pushed me to do my homework and get back to reading them myself.

message 4881: by Chester (new)

Chester (spacebutton) Hello bibliophiles! I'm Chelsea, but I go by Chester, and i'm 32 from Canada. I recently started an in person book club, and it left me wanting more, so here I am. I was hoping to find a banned books book club, but after reading the description for this group I decided it was a great place for me to be. I love reading, and my goal each year is to read 50 books, sometimes I get there, sometimes I don't, but never put any pressure on myself. I always tell myself I should be reading more classics, but never seem to get around to it, so I'm looking forward to reading alongside everyone and for the wonderful discussions that will follow.

Emma DeVere (faocha) Hi everybody. My name's Emma and I'm 24 years old. I've only recently started enjoying classic literature. Before this I'd only really read nonfiction and fantasy (which I still enjoy) but I'm kind of overwhelmed with the vast number of classics I could read. That's why I joined this group!

lethe | 82 comments Hello, all.

I came across this group on a friend's profile page and thought I should join. I have many as-yet unread classics (and non-classics) on my shelves, because I keep on being distracted by the new, shiny books that I keep buying at a pace faster than I can read, so my TBR pile grows and grows.

Some of those classics have been languishing on the shelf for many years, and a group read might be just the thing for me to finally pick them up!
