Thanks, Pink. I've found them and voted for February too.

Welcome Katie, I hope you enjoy the group. I think most of us here have felt behind with classics at some point, I still do as there's just so much to read! Hopefully this group can help you catch up a bit more :)

Hi and welcome Q! Enjoy yourself and happy reading! :)

I enjoy the classics, YA, fantasy, and light hearted rom com's from time to time.
A couple of other tid-bits, I love hot tea (particularly peppermint), sunny days, flowers and birds.
Happy reading everyone and Happy New Year.

Hi Ashley. I'm just beginning to participate in this group too. I wanted to say that I totally relate to what you said about anxiety and the peace, comfort, and escape that books can provide! Very well put :)

Hi Q. Welcome to the group! What are your favourite historical fiction books? I'm always on the look out for a new book :)

Hi Ashley. I completely agree with you about books being an escape and a comfort. Welcome to the group!

Hi and welcome Ashley! Happy reading! :)

Good luck to you all, happy reading!

Reading has always been a huge part of my life; I don't remember NOT being able to read nor do I have memories of learning to read. I've been collecting books since I was probably 7 years old. I recall saving my allowance weeks in advance of the library book sale and bringing home boxes of books.
I've been a Goodreads member since 2011, but have really become active just in the past 2 years.
I have a home library with about 1800 books, about 1/3 of which I have not yet read. I accidentally stumbled across this group and decided to join because in the past year, I made an effort to read some of the classics in my library that I either have never read or haven't read since high school. I went on a Dickens binge for a while. I finally got through Wuthering Heights, which I could never get into before. I love Jane Austen and reread P&P, S&S, Emma and Persuasion at least once a year (Persuasion is my favorite, and I still haven't read Mansfield Park).
I read a lot of genres besides classics, including romance (mostly historical), mysteries, some sci-fi and nonfiction. I'm looking forward to more reading in 2017!

Helllo! I'm Sharon, and I'm from Ohio. I love reading classics but somehow have gotten away from them this year. I'm hoping to get back to them in 2017 with this group. Love the categories in the bingo challenge, and I'm also interested in the women's challenge. The monthly group reads look good, too! Looking forward to everything here.

Jayanth, welcome to you as well. Alexandre Dumas is my favorite Classic Author. His attention to detail and character development pulls me right in. You would probably enjoy his other works as well. However, Monte Cristo.... is AMAZING. I can relate to your continued thinking of the book and its characters after you had finished. the same thing happened to me.

Hello and welcome Jayanth! We're excited that you found our group! You'll enjoy the books that we read based on the favorites you've listed and you'll definitely read more classics in 2017 joining this group! Enjoy yourself and happy reading! :)

Hi and welcome Pamela! Happy reading! :)

Welcome to our group; Ashley, Jayanth, Pam, and Sharon. I'm looking forward to reading and discussing books with all of you.

Hi Sharon, welcome! This group will definitely get you back to reading the classics! We have a great selection of books each month so jump in anywhere! Happy reading! :)

I do have a lot going on this year so I'm not sure how active I'll be, but I do like to have something keeping me reading literature (it keeps me sane!). I like everything, so long as it's well written & engaging, but since I grew up with science fiction (thanks to my engineer dad) & mysteries (I lived Nancy Drew for a while), those seem to be my go-to genres. Classic SF & mysteries, anyone?
Looking forward to what this year brings!

Welcome Bevin, I'm glad you like the look of our group. Don't worry about how active you'll be, just join us when you have time for some classic reading :)

I don't have an e-reader (the one I was given for Christmas in 2014 I returned and bought some hardcovers I wanted for my collection); reading from a computer screen puts me to sleep; but I can read a physical book for hours.
I have a long list of classics I've read over the last 30-odd years in another thread: SB: 4 Decades of Classics. I've spent the last 28 years trying to read all those books I was supposed to in college (have you seen the size of a Norton Survey Anthology? I'm a slow reader--it would take me most of a year to read the whole thing, let alone a semester!)and I'm nearing the end of my list. But GR keeps me going with new titles (and reminds me of things I'd left off my uber-tbr).
Looking forward to reading everyone's views in 2017!
